Not really a portal post but Shereef seems to have a NIL deal with Applebees. Gotta think he’s staying for another year

The fact we haven't been gutted by the portal yet is encouraging.

Is this going to be a slow burn?

I'd say wait and see who we bring in first. Maybe some will feel betrayed or have their feelings hurt some when Boals brings in a player at a certain position

Clayton just put up an IG post that he's back. Unless Shareef bails, it seems like all main cogs are returning.

Kids always have their own reasons, and when someone like Reggie Bass ends up at Indiana or something, people will start getting a little jealous...

but you gotta think looking at this roster... (baring catastrophe) the grass will not be greener elsewhere. This is a damn good team on paper and with Akron losing a HUGE chunk... plus Toledo, Kent State all taking big hits... I smell something brewin...

That is great news.

I'm cautiously optimistic that it could be a "banner" year next season.

And the way the crowds were at the last 4 home games could really turn into something, with another mild winter maybe and lots of winning? There was quite a bit of last minute walk up ticket buying late in the season which means the non-season ticket holding locals saw it as an entertainment option after that Fiami win.

So glad Clayton is returning, he won't regret it, but his post nearly gave me a heart attack before reading the full thing.

This is like Miami football keeping a ton of guys going into next year. I hope we have the same on the court.

The Clayton news is a pleasant surprise to me. Knowing OUr NIL limitations, I don't consider any returning player a lock to come back.

I did notice after the loss in Cleveland that Clayton was absolutely devastated. I was sitting front row above the tunnel to the lockeroom and he and Jaylin were arm in arm consoling each other as they headed in. It truly was a sad sight to see and I felt so bad for those seniors. They wanted it bad.

At the time I was worried that Clayton was considering that his last game as a Bobcat but now it seems he was displaying his passion and love for this program, let's run it back!

I think I posted it on another thread, but Seth Towns (who was just in the NCAA tourney this year) is older than Jayson Tatum.

Xavier 6-6 guard Kam Craft to Miami. Craft did not play this past season but was offered out of high school by Big 10, Big East and SEC schools. Looks like he has 3 years to play.

Towns is a poster child for doing things the right way though.

Kid has a Bachelors from Harvard. A masters from Ohio State. And is working on his PhD in English from Howard. And not a dollar of debt.

Makes me think Steele was involved in the initial recruiting of him to Xavier. Hopefully this adds some much needed talent to the conference.

Searles did hit 5 of the 11 threes he took. 46%

Small sample size, but if he can regress to the mean of 40% on more.....

So what do we know about Victor Searles? Boals posted on IG he is committed. I’m guessing 1 year? 6’9 245lbs, per Ashland’s site.

128 of 187 field goal percentage for 64% and 70% from the stripe.

5-11 from three and 7.5 rebounds per game. 15.4 scoring average.

Picture has him pretty slim for his size but so was Zips Freeman.

If he can come in and start, who will sit? Another big needed to come off the bench. I'd bet Hadaway loses minutes if a legitimate big comes to town.

Not sure how Aidan isn't a 30 minute a night guy. With a good summer of work, he could be a 15 + pt guy with 6-8 rebounds a night. Not sure those numbers sit.

I wouldn’t expect Searles to start. he’s been playing against lesser competition so his numbers won’t translate. i’d be happy with an improvement over Wiz off the bench.

agree hadaway won’t lose minutes to him (or probably anyone else) he’s gotten better with playing time.

Looks to me like Wiz with better hands.
