Duke already has Coach K trying to lure Corna is the rumor I’m hearing.

Burrito Buggy NIL money ran out so he's just going straight to "The Association".

I guess I didn't know walk-ons transferring is considered entering the portal.

Our roster typically has room for 2 walk-ons, right? Is it possible that when a walk-on enters the portal could it mean that the walk-on spot is no longer available on our roster? It could be a nice way for a walk-on to keep playing the sport at a lower level.

Yep, that's my guess. Alex Evans in, Quinn out. Gotta use the roster spots as effectively as possible.

Yep this all but confirms Alex will be a walk-on. I even alluded to Corna possibly being the odd man out once Alex was coming in.

So our walk-ons are Estis, Boals and Alex Evans.

Means we have 2 open scholarships currently. 3 out (Hunter, Brown, Ezuma) plus unused scholarship and 2 in (Ayden Evans, Burris).

I believe the official rule is 15 on the roster; 13 schollies and 2 walk-ons, though there was recent movement in 2022 to raise it to 16 (unless that actually went into effect) - Julie Cromer was part of the basketball committee where that rule change was proposed. Also finding there is a rolling 5-year average limit? I don't know I'm confused.

BTC with the rules knowledge incoming...

Cochran is probably over Tod K's inability to get the team over the hump in March.

With NIL, having this limit is a big deal. Lots of bigger football programs have a setup for good walk-ons where the NIL deal just so happens to be equivalent to the cost of tuition and related expenses.

Moss was solid but Toledo losing Ben Wight is a huge loss.
(Place sarcastic laugh here).

Kent's Sullinger portaling.

The MAC was awful this year and now decimated by top teams losing their best players.

How does the conference get better when this is going to happen every year?

As long as the Bobcats field a strong roster, the rest of them can suck. I want to see a big conference championship banner get raised in The Convo and those other schools can go wee-wee-wee all the way home. Especially the one in Oxford.

Well...we've been poached as well in previous years and I have a feeling it won't just be Quinn Corna as the only Bobcat in the portal.

Hundo-P. Boals is surely meeting with all current players on the roster to gauge their interest in returning, and making new non-contract offers to try and keep them here. It'll take some $$$. He gets the tough job of determining how much of his small budget he wants to dedicate toward re-recruiting the current roster vs. paying new hires.

Last season went to keeping the team. We'll see how this off-season pans out.

How much of our roster should we be paying to retain?

Clayton, yes. AJB's injury makes him less of a target. Who else would to expect to be in very high demand? We were a semi-finalist in a very low ranked conference.

When you put it like that, sounds like all this is is bribing your players to stay another year.

Mitchell, Hadaway & I think Elmore James wasn't 100% and will look good next year. We really want to keep those 5 guys. We may be sort of lucky in that they are all good enough to be good players in the MAC but not good enough to play much for a big time program. I suspect that Boals would like to keep Ike Cornish and Ajay Sheldon, but with not a lot of scholarships available for portal use, he probably wouldn't pull his hair out. I doubt Wiznitzer is going anywhere. Last year we really needed an experienced big but I wonder if getting a player similar to Jaylin Hunter isn't a more realistic goal for next year.
