Non-conference starting to take shape. I’m assuming Austin Peay comes to Athens, so that gives us 2 home games right now with it and 2nd SBC/MAC game. So far, the schedule is road heavy if you count Myrtle Beach. Get a P5 game on this and that has to be it on the road.

11/4 @James Madison
11/21 Myrtle beach
11/22 Myrtle beach
11/24 Myrtle Beach
12/7 @ Marshall
Austin Peay
@Davidson in Charlotte
Feb 2nd SBC/MAC
You would expect some home games after JMU and again before winter break.

Anyone have a feel for when that Davidson game might end up being? Off the record.😉

This would have been a tight squeeze right before Myrtle and more away games, but would have fun to participate in all things considered.

If the Charlotte game is true then we have 4 neutral site games plus one of our home non-conference games is in February. It is easy to think that we will probably only have 4 or 5 home non-conference games in November and December. One of those will be against a non-D1 school.

I think it will actually be nicer to have the home SBC game in February as opposed to November. People really don't get into the momentum of college basketball until college football is over. We played Delaware last year on a December Saturday with students on campus and only 4500 people were there.

I really hope not. Challenge this group all non-conference.

Myrtle field finalized — Wright State and Louisiana-Monroe added.

Not exactly exciting. Basically, give us South Florida, Princeton, or Bradley for something different/good.

I'd love to kick the crap out of Wright State. That fanbase is the NC State (pre-Final Four) of mid major world.

They need to bring back the bracket buster match ups they used to do between mid-majors late in the season.

Maybe because they actually have had very good teams and achieve something. They sell out and have an always great atmosphere.

Every year late July...it always feels like we are the last D-1 school to announce full non-con schedule. I know that's not the case, but it always feels that way.

At least we have about half of it complete already. I'm more surprised we're never among the leaked individual games prior. Rocco Miller is constantly tweeting out matchups ahead of time. Outside of a tournament, we don't see our non-conference opponents until the schedule is released for the most part.

It always boggles my mind. I mean every year it seems to be late August early September before we see the full non-con schedule.

Forgive me if I am wrong but I believe the season starts in November, correct? Will the schedule not be the same regardless of when it's divulged?

Fewer than 30 schools have released their non-conference schedule. Nearly everyone is behind.

That's unfortunate. Every year a team from Ohio gets a game with OSU and they're not us.

Yea, it's bummer. We get Xavier from time to time, but that seems to be it. I've been surprised by no matchup with Butler, yet. Given, the relationship Boals has with Matta.

I don't know that coaches generally like to play against their friends. We didn't play OSU when Groce was here.

Could be, but we don’t seem to get to play OSU regardless of who is coach of each team.

Not like Groce went out to play the best competition anyway.

I looked at the academic calendar and saw that Dad's Weekend is the first weekend in November. With the season opener at JMU the following Monday, I doubt we host an exhibition that Saturday. More likely the preceding Thursday.

Don't know why we don't work together across our departments with this. Put dad's on the second weekend of November, stick Austin Peay there or screw it, Incarnate Word, any D1 team and show the dads a real game.

Big crowd at Mem Aud for the Pink Floyd(ish) show last dad Saturday night.

Football is on a bye week this time. Maybe an afternoon basketball game??

At least visiting parents can see us clobber Morgan State in football. Last parents weekend the football team was in Boca.
