Chased Taylor out??
There were reports that the team did not get along with him, so there was no Deandre Jordan effort, chased may be a little harsh.

Ridiculous is passing judgement two and half years into a coaches' tenure at a school. Particularly when the one you are pining for had a worse winning percentage after three years than what Saul has right now. And guess who never lost his best player for the season? I'm a huge fan of John Groce but he's not coming back here. Saul may never put together a team like Groce put together but I absolutely love what he is putting together. Am I happy about our inability to put teams away? Heck no. But I wasn't happy about our defense the last couple of years and that's been fixed. Wait until every single player on our roster is a Saul guy then you can pass judgement.

As I said earlier, I just hope John Groce doesn't end up at Miami because I really want to be able to root for him.

I was with you until the "defense has been fixed" part. Not by a long shot.

Jesus H. Christopher this is getting old. They were the the #1, but now are the #2 ranked DEFENSIVE SCORING TEAM IN THE LEAGUE.

Oh and #2 ranked FG% defense and #1 3pt% defense. But go ahead and keep saying things that aren't true.

Looking at Ken Pomeroy, I found it interesting that the MAC is the 2nd-fastest conference in terms of tempo. MAC teams average 72.2 possessions per game. Second to the Atlantic Sun which is at 72.7.

One way to look at that is no one is playing defense.

Tyquane Goard transferred two more times. Come on lets be real about this. Groce had one losing season and then 2 NCAA's and a CIT. They are not even comparable. This is not an assault on Saul., I like Groce more.

To call my idea ridiculous is crazy. In four years with Ohio, Groce went to two NCAA's, he won 3 NCAA games. He then went to an NCAA and two NIT's with Illinois. He was OSU's best recruiter, they have done nothing since he left. Plus, I was factoring Saul going to Duke to replace Coach K. Groce would have never done the Deandre Jordan to Wadley and chased Taylor out. RIDICULOUS is denying that Groce did more for Ohio than Saul. The medi mind state is if he does commit a felony and he shakes our hand, he is a good guy and nobody else could be better. That my friends is ridiculous. I am all for keeping Saul if Groce does not get canned.

Are you coming to the game Saturday? If so, will you bring whatever herb or hooch you're enjoying with you? I also need an alternate reality to enjoy.

True in an alternative reality world. Listen, I love John Grocer A LOT, but 'truth', if you think Saul is doing a poor job, or that there's a 1% chance that they'll fire Saul to bring John back if he is suddenly available, well that's flat out fantasy land.

And that is why I asked for the herb, hooch, you're enjoying. And I'll add shine because I love that around a summer night fire.

Well, it should always only be consumed in moderation - and the effects are only beneficial if consumed with consistency and moderation over time. Green Kool-Aid binge drinking and/or teetotalism can have very serious ill effects......

so Groce was justified in running off Goard because he transferred later on?? You want to be real about Groce. Fine, lets get real- Groce was 34-30(.531) in the MAC in 4 seasons, never finishing better than 3rd. That's real.

Want to talk about what a great recruiter Groce was? We can talk about Coop and Walt, but then we also need to talk about Stevie Fresh Coleman, Marquis Horne, Alex Kellogg, Ethan Jacobs, Kenny Belton and Kadeem Greene.

Groce gave us some incredible highs at tournament time, but the regular season was full of frustrating losses and way too many instances of players being suspended for off the court activities. Don't let the passage of time cloud your view.

And who was that "bigfoot" mystery transfer that landed somewhere else - with little impact there?

Where are we headed next year without Campbell and Kaminski? NCAA. If not that will be 4 years without a trip to the tournament. Groce THREE NCAA wins, CIT quarter finals.

The koolaid has one of Ohio's most successful coaches Grocer. Don't let that koolaid make you act like that.

John Groce was 34-30 in the MAC. He won more than 9 games just once and never more than 11. 1 more bucket by Akron in the 2012 MAC championship, and 1 more point by Ball State in the 1st round of the MAC tournament in 2010...and Groce's postseason resume would have been a couple CIT appearances, that's it.

Your post felt like a kneejerk reaction to our disappointing loss and disappointing 5-4 record. My point is what we are experiencing right now was par for the course under the Groce era.

I liked Groce very much, but at this point there is very little difference between the 2 except more temper from Groce and more jokes from Saul.

I am just being honest, the results speak for themselves. I am upset to losing to four 200+ rpi teams in the last ten minutes

This has been a disappointing season, but your reaction to it is utterly misguided. Implicitly calling for firing Saul by pining for Groce? Even if we had the money and prestige to randomly fire winning coaches (hint: we don't), no AD in their right mind would even think of firing a guy who lost his best player, runs a clean program and still hasn't done a full recruiting cycle.

We can and should have expectations, but they should be reasonable. Longing for Groce, who is never returning anyway and had warts that others have pointed out, is the opposite of reasonable.

No mediocre AD, coaches get fired all the time for underperforming, even if they run a clean program. Does Saul have a lifetime pass?
