If he gets fired, I want him back. He is a great recruiter and coach.

If he gets fired somebody in the MAC should pick him up.

Let's hope it's not Miami.

You are really ready to fire Saul? Really?

I don't want to coach against him and recruit against him. He got us tournament victories. We don't look like we are going back to the tournament anytime soon

Not the Red Hawks!!!

I am a huge fan of Saul, so for the record I do not want to fire him.
If Saul's team would cease to blowing twenty point leads that would earn him some serious cool points with me, and most likely some of his other supporters.

This is why we can't have nice things.

When Saul was hired, all anybody around here did was rave about how committed he was to the program, and talk about how sick they were of coaches who didn't want to be here.

A couple of seasons -- and one season ending injury to the MAC player of the year -- later, and we're yearning for our old coach again.

The expectations for this program are ridiculous.

Look, I loved the fact that this team got incredibly hot in the NCAA's too, but give me a coach who can win a regular season title along the way, please. Did Groce ever finish higher than third?

John Groce...you mean the guy who left Athens right after missing the elite 8 by a missed free throw, when virtually 100% of our minutes would be back the next year?

Before everyone jumps on me, I might have taken the deal for way more money too, I just wouldn't expect to have my OHIO job as a fall-back if the better deal didn't work out.

I'm letting it go....eventually.

Oh yeah, that was right before the stellar Christian years too...

Please stay, Saul.

one thing is for sure, if John Groce had a team capable of winning 27 games and advancing to the Sweet 16 he sure as heck wouldn't go on the road and get up 15-0 in the first half to a lousy 2-7 team from the MAC West and then find a way to lose the game.

My only potential disagreement here is that this is assuming he doesn't get a better offer than he'll get from a MAC School. I also wonder how appealing Miami really is for coaches anymore?

Yeah. I am learning to shrug off those with unrealistic expectations. So for I'm doing a decent job in 2017. It can be tough, however.

I am all in with Saul.

I know there are complaints about how the game was managed last night but the only thing that matters for postseason berth is a MAC tourney title. Yesterday matters not, except seeding ramifications.

Perhaps he was measuring how the fellas faced adversity and didnt call TO.

If the right opportunity presents itself, you take it. Groce is a better recruiter and coach in my opinion. The expectations for the program should not be going to the CBI every year, that is not who we are. I believe Saul may win a a MAC, but down the stretch we find ways to lose to sorry teams and he sits by and allows it to happen.

You're being ridiculous. The only time this post would make sense is after an early exit in March, where you can make the albeit flawed argument that Groce got us March success and Saul hasn't. But saying it as a response to a disappointing loss to a poor team on the road in the MAC? You look ridiculous. The Groce era was littered with those routinely.

Who said the expectations were CBI every year anyway!? There were plenty of people on this board who saw very few losses and a very slim (VERY SLIM) shot of an at-large bid with the right breaks and if Ohio won enough games. But other than that, go back to the season prediction thread, a lot of us had at least a MAC title and NCAA tournament berth because we expected this team to be better.

Were we overrating them a little bit based off last year? Maybe. But we also didn't expect to lose THE REIGNING MAC PLAYER OF THE YEAR in the process. I can't overstate how much of a blow it is to lose Tony Campbell. You just don't replace a guy like that and A) not expect a drop off or B) somehow get better.

What recruits don't you like from Saul Phillips? Jordan Dartis? Jason Carter? Mike Laster? Gavin Block? Doug Taylor? Jaaron Simmons? Kenny Kaminski? Rodney Culver? Just please tell me because all of those guys are making significant contributions to helping this team get better.

And who exactly should Saul be going after or getting that you don't think he has?

To call my idea ridiculous is crazy. In four years with Ohio, Groce went to two NCAA's, he won 3 NCAA games. He then went to an NCAA and two NIT's with Illinois. He was OSU's best recruiter, they have done nothing since he left. Plus, I was factoring Saul going to Duke to replace Coach K. Groce would have never done the Deandre Jordan to Wadley and chased Taylor out. RIDICULOUS is denying that Groce did more for Ohio than Saul. The medi mind state is if he does commit a felony and he shakes our hand, he is a good guy and nobody else could be better. That my friends is ridiculous. I am all for keeping Saul if Groce does not get canned.
