JUCO this year, and most likely somewhere else the year after that. Plus, he's already done one year of prep school.

Wasn't it Allen who advised Saul to send player(s) to JUCO, like it is a minor league system, only to bring them back up to the "big leagues" in a year or two? Or was that advise for Solich?

Perhaps not.

Instead of sitting he gets to play.

If he plays well; he can immediately go where he is wanted and play. Seems almost better than the conventional sitting out a year and running the risk of not really hitting it off at your new location.

great move for him, he can play and work out any kinks. He will probably get high major offers, he should go to midmajor that will give him playing time and space to grow. Kevin Mickle our new star recruit used the JUCO route to go from Central Connecticut to Florida Gulf Coast.

So since he graduated from HS he will be at 4 schools in 4 years after transferring out of this JUCO. I wouldn't be surprised if he adds a 5th via grad transfer before it's all over.

He'll be playing good competition, certainly. But will he get good coaching? He really needs a lot of work.

Culver will be fine, he needs playing time. Let's not make it like he sucks because he shot a higher percentage than two of our starters. We had a lot of close games and we did not trust him and did not have time to develop him. We did not trust Laster for half of the year and he came out and shot 53%, I bet we would have said he needs a lot of work.

Your opinion that Culver will be fine with playing time is fine. Some background for that belief would be exceptional. That you add an admonishment of the board members at large is where you go off track and become the weird old uncle over in the corner making comments. OTOH...at least we know who the weird old uncle is and can rationalize his background to make those comments...

bornacat not you, you have been objective and made great points, the people saying that he really needs work, they are being somewhat irrational and I am just pointing that out. I don't mind you mischaracterizing me, I just want you to understand where I am coming from so that this does not turn into a debate.
Here is one poster.
I agree.....Culver barely played the last 12 games. Laster took all of his minutes. Culver had the worst shooting stroke in the MAC. I wish him well, but I just don't see how this has a devastating impact on the rotation.

Another said he looked good and then in retrospect he had a bad attitude, we should not look at his transfer negatively. He did not fit into what Saul was trying to do and he moved on. Let him move on, we signed another guard and have another ship left or we can throw stones at him.

Thanks for the reply. I think you are a good poster and have good insight. When you come at the Board in General and do not use individual posts as a point of reference we all get thrown under the bus as if you are indicting the whole fanbase instead of picking out the individual.

In this case you plucked the post and have a good take. While I agree he does have a shoddy stroke he makes it go in a fair %. Reggie Miller and Paul Pierce are more accomplished with equally as bad a stroke.

Rodney is a good kid. His skills are considerable. His upside is pretty good at a mid major level. He is incomplete. IMHO he would have done well to take the year off, work on his game, work on his schoolwork and polished up ...as someone said he has already had a year at a prep....I did not and do not feel MOST preps I have watched/visited or talked with staff, give them a ton of instruction while they are playing. Vincinnes does a good job not only getting guys academically ready but getting them trained up....but IMHO a year of not playing, doing the work on skills/drills/individual development at an IPFW or similar where the staff has a plan and the coaches to devote to him and he could work on his degree would have served him better. And FWIW....that is just my opinion and won't get you much except on the Athens bus....

I will be mindful of how I post. I agree with your assessments on prep school and his educational track. It will be interesting to see how he does there; I hope that he does well. I can't wait to see how some of our guys grow as well.
