I can remember when Coach Stewart tried to tell a group of us that Harley was an NBA Prospect. All I remember is thinking he was full of it. Sure as heck, that one didn't pan out at all. Maybe that's why I question Jim Christian's staff when it came to talent evaluation.
My guess: he saw a 6'8" kid with handles and immediately thought this. I'm not inclined to agree with Stewart's assessment there, but with a healthy back, you never know what could have been.

In fairness, JC's staff did find Tony and Maurice. On the other hand they found some others who were not nearly as good.

There's more to the Ndour story...in the words of our esteemed "leader," Christian/Anthony Stewart were "bad hombres."

Shouldn't take too much thought to get close to what you think was going on. N'Dour was (not publicly) thinking about transferring when Christian bounced, too. I've heard some bits and pieces.

What value is there in dredging these rumors up now for public discussion?

If you're going to laud them for bringing in Ndour, I get to throw out the opposing view.

Again, someone who wants to make a negative implication of Christian ... good for you. Well, I can go through coaches back to Jim Snyder, including Bandy, Nee, Hunter, Hahn, Groce, O'Shea who all brought in guys who later didn't pan out.

Since I know him, I don't think Buckeye to Bobcat is trying to make a bad implication of JC. I think he's just recounting the story for us.

No ties to him! And how do I keep jumping in? Please elaborate. When the same old people act as if he went 5-22 or 6 - 21 it gets old. Just under 75% wins in MAC play and 70% overall.

I just don't have much respect for those who trash him. He did a good job while here. Sorry if it doesn't meet your approval.

Just asking. I noticed you have jumped into several convos and commented on JC and was just wondering. I have no voice and was not being critical. I was curious. I have no approval to give. Saw an obvious thing that has happened a few times and wondered what the connection was.....

Did he ever win a game against a non-conference team that had a pulse? That first year he had team fresh from a Sweet 16 run, with all the starters back, and his team in good non-conference games looked like a bunch of back alley kids against an NBA team. OK, that's a little hyperbole, but the truth his we stunk the gym up in a several non-conference games that year. I will always believe if JG had stayed those games would have been much more competitive.

Now you are just baiting him. I just asked a simple question. I know you want to have this conversation but baiting him is just gonna lead to hostilities over something that does not really matter at this late date. There are coaches you always root for when they leave and love to watch do well and others that you just do not watch. THe NCAA provides all sorts of drama. I just saw a few threads where Jerry had jumped in and taken up the mantle for JC and asked a simple question because I was curious.

Saw the same thing on the IL board for JG. Though I have many friends in the Pop Band and Music school at UH I will always root for them to lose while Kelvin is the Coach. Just the opposite while Clyde and Ray McCallum were the coaches. It is better than daytime soaps as the basketball world is full of good guys like Ferry and Rhody who get fired and villans who survive.

Listening to StuGotz talk yesterday made me chuckle as he described in great detail a self absorbed Northwestern being molded into a Midwest Duke under Collins. All this drama is fascinating. I found Jerry repeatedly jumping in JC threads equally as interesting and asked a simple question. I know most of the folks on boards I am on with a face to connect with their name...I do not have a face or a backstory to go with Jerry so I was interested. Not looking to stir up anything, so do not add to the fire Carl. Thanks

Thanks for reminding me of the Belmont game OCF. Appreciate it.

Exactly. It was more of a zinger at Coach Stewart. I'm glad we found Mo and Tone (that would have been a killer combo nickname duo for them if we would have had them last year), but the evaluation on Harley was a country mile off.

Was it? Or is it just possible that Harley's back kept him from showing his true potential. Saul seemed to agree with Coach Stewart's assessment when he first got here. It didn't work out but neither did any number of guys from all our previous coaches.

Looks like a reason to have a rooting interest in Little Rock for at least one year.

I have nothing but respect for these two guys. I wish them all the luck. If we play them at some point I will root against them but will cheer them on otherwise. Unlike MichiGONE. I will not root for any player on that team.

Top 5 players in minutes played and 6 of top 7 for Little Rock were Seniors. Good opportunity for both.
