I find it interesting that we're willing to pay top-dollar (in MAC terms) for a football and men's basketball coach ....
... but when it comes time to invest money into the actual marketing and operations of our athletic dept, we fall woefully short ... to lot of similar sized and smaller schools.
Yes ... with today's technology, it would NOT be hard to hook up a camera to the top of a pressbox and stream the Ohio soccer, field hockey, etc games.
But let's take it a step further ... the MAC is a joke when it comes to this as well.
This league just skates by doing bare minimum.
For comparison ... the Sun Belt has a video channel on YouTube that links from their conference home page ....
https://www.youtube.com/user/SunBeltSports Highlights of every football game ...
Weekly teleconference from every football coach ....
Here is the MAC YouTube page ...
https://www.youtube.com/user/MACDigitalNetwork/videos The most recent video is a diversity & inclusion video from BG from two weeks ago.
When it comes to live events ... even the OVC ... a league that I think almost everyone will agree is a few steps below the MAC in terms of talent and relevancy "airs" a ton of live events ... and they are super easy to find on their webpage
http://ovcsports.com/#digitalnetwork Hell, they even have an app you can add to your Roku to watch these easily on your TV.
Why the MAC continues to lag behind in this is beyond me. Is it lack of talent ... lack of vision ... laziness ... ineptness? I'm not sure what the answer is.
But it's laughable no matter how you cut it. The technology is there ... why it isn't utilized like a lot of other leagues/schools Ohio/MAC size is puzzling
