Arkley mentioned Butler missed practice with an illness on Wednesday. Perhaps that was why he didn't play.
From Arkley's Messenger article:

Ohio again played short-handed. Sophomore forward Jason Carter was not dressed as Phillips said the preseason All-MAC pick suffered another “setback” with his lower leg injury in practice on Friday. Freshman guard Zach Butler also did not play after missing the last two days of practice with a sinus infection.

Doesn't sound good for Carter. Must be a hell of a sinus infection.

Everything about this game was abysmal. Let's hope they can move on, forget about it and learn that you have to bring 100% effort every night.

That was pathetic in every way. Scheduling, execution, attitude, final score.
Have you ever been on a sports team where injuries ravaged it so no continuity could take place? Block. DT, Gollon and Kirk are the only players who have played every game. You must not know how difficult that is. These guys are fighting...if you want to be mad..be mad at Jim Christians first year or last years finish.
LOL. Christian has nothing to do with where we are today. Next, injuries are a part of any program. Perhaps we need to better evaluate recruits before offering. As much as I like Saul he's going to have to start producing or he'll not see his kids graduate from school in Athens.

^^^^ Have similar thoughts. Everyone likes him, but injuries or not, you can't coach at OHIO for 5 years and not sniff the NCAA Tournament. This is looking more and more like a lost year in terms of contending for a title in Cleveland. Year 5 is a biggie for #SaulBall.

You must not have had a bad one. It gets tough to do much when you can hardly breathe.

Did not see the game but find it extremely concerning and head scratching.

On Monday's coaches show Russ said Zach had step throat. Glad he seems better now, he played 13 minutes at CMU, it's all-hands-on-deck time.
