I am not a journalism person, but is this cryptic tweet unprofessional? I mean if you have news report news, do not throw mud against the wall to see what sticks. That is not fair to any of the parties involved.

I couldn't agree more. Love Arkley, but if you have news then share the details.

Thought that too BTC. It's a weird tweet to throw out there without anything else backing it up.

This whole thread is.....weird.

Why do we care about the PA announcer? I mean that from both sides. As in, why the heck is this even on the athletic department radar (if it's even true)? And also - even if a change is made, is it really that big of a deal? *shrugs*

Invest in facilities/staff.
Win games.
Make tournament.
Recruit better players.
Pay coach.
Repeat.

It's not rocket science. Not sure where "PA announcer scandal" fits into the above strategy/plan.

Again - just weird.

Who was the PAA for football and basketball games in the early 2000's? Any ideas what he's up to now?

Really unique that a Newspaperman would have an opinion....frankly, I'm disappointed he did not go in harder on the situation. It was totally within his boundaries as a non-University, non-Athletic Department employee. He can say exactly what he wants. Good for him.

If I were Lou I'd tell the Athletic Department to take their little announcing job and shove it straight up their 12-19, carpetbagging asses.

Yeah the environment sucks because the team sucks, the recruiting has been awful, the students don't care, and this athletic department has proven inept and tone deaf. Sorry the little doggies catching frisbees didn't bone everyone up to race down to the Convo on a Saturday. Right now, I would not watch a game if it was going on in my driveway. Firing Lou is fine...if you want to prescribe a vasectomy for a broken leg.

I'd suggest there are other changes that need to be made, and none of them involve the PA guy.

All I'm aware of is a cryptic tweet about the PA announcer. Is there more confirmed details about this story?

For those of you who know me you'll understand what I'm saying - let this one alone, for now.

Seeing as how Arkley's tweet has almost 300 likes...no one is leaving this alone. Nor should we.

I'm with B-Love 100%. Lou is much more Ohio Athletics than Jim Schaus or his band of carpetbaggers will ever be.

This reeks of trying to put on a bunch of rap or DJ crap in parallel to the new scoreboard being hung. We need NEON RIBBONS, loud noises, and "DJ Carpet Bag" spinning all the latest house/acid tunes!!

Fans are NOT showing up in droves, what better way to chase people like myself further away. "DJ Carpet Bag" and Prairie View A&M - how could you not open your wallet to these guys.

Sure, with "DJ Carpet Bag" you might get a few more students in the joint (emphasize FEW) to watch the dogs chasing frisbees - but unfortunately for the Carpetbaggers in charge, people like me are the ones with real money to give.

Chasing off a guy like Lou in exchange for "DJ Carpet Bag" is a surefire way to keep me away from the Convo for a long time to come.

"Hello Mr. Love, this is Chad C. Bag from Ohio Athletics. How are you today?"

"Good Chad, how are you? When did you graduate from Ohio? I graduated in 1998"

"Oh Mr. Love, I didn't actually attend Ohio. I went to Syracuse for my undergrad but it's a great day to be an Ohio Bobcat! Now have you heard about our latest project that involves renovating the Ladies Basketball locker-rooms?"

"No Chad, but I can't think of any better ways to spend my money then to help renovate the Women's Basketball Locker-room with a donation - which is no longer tax deductible."

....."Mr. LOVE, I'm sorry to cut you off, but this is Wendy Carpenter, the new head of the Ohio Bobcat Club! It's a great day to be a Bobcat.".........

"Wait, what happened to Chad?"

"Mr. LOVE, Sorry to say that Chad had to go as he has just accepted a job at the University of Tennessee as a Donor Relations Associate in the Big Orange Club - Bobcats are doing big things in the world of Sports Administration!!"

I was here before you got here and I'll be here after you leave. Mark it. I'd prefer if we stopped these carpetbaggers from taking a dump on the University year after year after year. That goes for this President who is woefully under qualified, to this entire Athletic Administration. As long as we keep whoring ourselves out to these outsiders, this is the results we can expect. That doesn't mean we accept mediocrity from local-yokol Coaches like Carbone, Cooley, and Larry Hunter but it does mean we ask more from people who are asking a shit ton more from us.

People are making a lot of assumptions about what's going on. Either that or some people actually know more than what is being made public.

I agree with this. Lou is awesome and the rumor from Arkley better be just that, a rumor. However, there is a lot of animosity building for something we know very little about. We should probably be very careful about how we talk about this before someone calls, writes, or does something incredibly stupid (in reference to all three actions) that could actually harm Lou's position.

I have a feeling Arkley has good info, but probably from a source he has to protect. He’s never been one to throw crap on the wall and see what sticks up to this point, no reason to assume he’s starting to now.
