Program actually has a better record against Buffalo under this regime historically (4-2) than Kent or Akron (both 2-5). Not like that means anything for this year, I just thought it was interesting.

Interesting to see that Oats at Buffalo is signed through the 2020-21 season at about $355,000 a year. He will be in demand just like Hurley was if he gets the Bulls to the NCAA tournament. The Bobcats have lost some close games this season, so maybe the time is right on Friday for them to grab a close win?

If we are, in fact, due for a WTF win, this would certainly qualify!

That last, awful season with Bean and Mo we managed to beat a few teams at home we had no business beating. We have no business beating Buffalo, but the game is here and we are due for an "all cylinders clicking" type game.

I would normally agree but the spirit in this thread is louder and bigger than the Ozone will be on Friday so I have little faith that our usual crowd and 6th man will be there. We used to own such a huge home court advantage. Not anymore.

If we can get hot from outside we will win a lot of games. But we cannot afford to have Dartis and Laster score anything less than 25 combined points or we are burnt toast. We just don't have the scorers after those 2 to make up for it. I will love seeing Kirk go ahead Graves if it happens because I wanted Graves badly on this team.

Totally agree^^. I just don't think people realize how good Buffalo is. Could very well go undefeated in MAC play and I think it's a surprise Sweet 16 team. As for home court advantage, stick a fork in that...it's done. We have a giant roundhouse and nobody goes to games anymore. OZONE is dead...6 feet under. The best home court in the MAC no longer exists. Those glory days are history...Charlie Coles would be amazed how far we've fallen off in this department.

Yeah, its a bummer that with Friday 6:30PM games the MAC (and its member Ohio University) have pretty much decided they don't care about crowds.

I would think that a 6:30 game on a Friday night should draw students.

Eat supper,go the the game, then you can still head uptown by around 9:00.

Its a lot better then when the MAC Game of Week used to be on Sat. morning.

If I lived in Athens, this would set up what I'd call the perfect Friday night for the exact reasons you point out! :)

(It still kind of does, I just have to drive home, so post game fun is limited)

Just looking over some of the KenPom matchup numbers:

- Offensively, Buffalo averaging 112.4 points per 100 possessions on an adjusted basis, 49th in the country. They shoot the three well at 35.9% (128th) and the two better at 51.9% (100th). They also utilize the three a lot with 42.1% of FG attempts coming from behind the arc (78th). They also do a good job of getting extra shots rebounding 32.5% of their misses (80th).

- Ohio, conversely, only getting 100.9 points/100 possessions (227th nationally). The Bobcats shoot the three well at 36.7% (95th) but are a poor 2-point shooting team at 48.1% (239rd). That's exacerbated by the fact that they don't shoot a lot of 3's in comparison to 2's. Only 35.7% of shots come from behind the arc (216th). Finally, Ohio doesn't get second chance points being one of the worst offensive rebounding teams in the country. The Bobcats only get 22.3% of their missed shots (330th).

- The teams are a little closer defensively. Ohio allows 104.1 per 100 (169th) while Buffalo is at 101.6 (124th). Ohio is fairly average defensing the two (allowing 49.8% for 175th nationally) and the three (allowing 34.5% for 150th nationally). They do a good job defensive rebounding (allowing only 26.2% offensive rebounding for 63rd) and not fouling (27.4% FTA/FGA for 49th). Buffalo doesn't defend the three well (36.6% for 258th) but does defend the two (47.1% for 76th). They do a good job of not allowing 3-point attempts (31.3% of shots allowed are threes good for 22nd). They will foul you (43.6% FTA/FGA for 323rd).

We're getting 7.5 at home. As for dinner then the game, when we were all there that might have been true but now there's this thing called televised Friday night games. The beer is cheaper, the restroom is closer and the girls are more numerous in an uptown bar. Even we 62 year olds can understand and appreciate that. :)

This game should go Buffalo's way just like the Eastern Michigan game should have.
I said before the EMU game don't be surprised if we pull out a win.
I will say the same thing with Buffalo.
Just when I think this team is in serious trouble they surprise me.

Wow did that team underachieve (OUr team). You've got a future pro in Mo, you have a current pro (G-League) in Tone. You've got a fiery point guard in Stevie and a dagger shooting 2 guard in Bean. You've got your hype man in Treg and a future 20 ppg scorer in Ryan Taylor. Toss in Laster's energy and that group should have been better. But we all know about the attitudes on the team. Mo never dominated consistently. And we were thin with schollies going to Wads, Khari, Chandler Thomas and two transfers sitting out (Kenny and Jaaron). We still should have been better.

WOW! Nice job when it comes to collecting all of this. It is a good thing that they actually play the game, because this impressive collection of statistics basically says that it is a waste of time for the Bobcats to even show up to the game tonight.
