Heck with a scoreboard, but can anyone here tell me where a recruit or fan can see the history of OHIO Basketball in particular, and Ohio Athletics in general in the Convo? The MAC Trophies 🏆, photos of big games or moments? Traditions? Just curious.
I've seen outstanding displays in many college arenas. In December I attended a game at Jacksonville State in Alabama which included photos, a net and tickets from the men's basketball OVC championship last March and an NCAA tournament scorebook with the data filled in for the Gamecocks game vs Louisville. This was in a relatively small glass case in the lobby. Very cool.
As I recall, Central Michigan has a decent display of athletic history in it's arena. Nice gym, hospitality and game atmosphere -- even though attendance was low the night I was there.
This is a huge missed opportunity for Ohio in my opinion. I lobby on here, and in my end of season survey that simple things that don't cost hundreds of thousands could be done to showcase this. There's no reason there can't be a nice display of the history - the big games, the All-MAC players, etc. Put it out there for the public to see. Goes back to what I said in the Seat Police (Bobcat Mail) thread: It's time for the folks running things to take a hard look at how they do things. That includes this kind of stuff.
I think over the last decade or so that it may have been taken for granted that 5500 people were going to just show up on a weeknight, and 8500+ were going to show up on a weekend. Product on the court has some bearing, I acknowledge. Making the rest of the experience - concessions, ticketing, giveaways, audio/video, things that make game day "cool" and exciting - is also really important to many fans.
