Home game weekends:

1/11 NIU
1/25 Kent State
2/8 MAC/SB Challenge? Is this a home game the 2nd time around?
2/22 Akron
3/1 Miami

Three biggest rivals on Saturdays is awesome, but at least one of those will get flexed to Friday for sure.
Hopefully it's no more than one that gets flexed. And the MAC/SB challenge on 2/8 is a home game and actually Sibs weekend. That should help boost the crowd against an unfamiliar opponent.

Aside from at Central Michigan, all our road weekend games are in-state. All of our home weekday games are against MAC "West" teams.

One other nice nugget, the games on 1/11, 1/25, and 3/1 are currently set to be double-headers with the women, but of course subject to change with game(s) flexed to Friday.

Could be fun times in the Convo.
We have a chance to jump out to a quick 5-1 start. Not a bad structure to the conference schedule for OHIO.

I did get a chuckle when it said non-con schedule won't be released for "several" more weeks. At this rate, we are looking at October 1st. It's a tradition unlike any other.
Negotiating that H&H with Muskingum College can be difficult.

Not that I'm justifying it, but I do think this year's delay is a byproduct of schedule challenges being a mid-major. Since it's been documented that so many others are having trouble. Non-conference was released on 8/16 last year. Can't imagine this year's being too far behind with 10 games already down.

Without seeing a release on the 24-25 TV schedule, I suspect Akron, Kent, and Miami will all get flexed.

Each of those games has a companion that is also a good candidate to move to Friday night: Western-Central, BG-Toledo, Akron-Kent. But most Fridays saw 2 games get flexed for CBS and ESPN.

So we're boned.

It definitely feels like it's becoming harder for mids to fill out their schedules. Anybody have a sense of what's driving that? Curious why it's gotten harder over the last couple of years.

Speculation -- I think it's tied to getting quality home games. Between buy games, tourneys, and neutral site games, most mids are still likely trying to be on the home games side this year as part of a H/H.

Buffalo's schedule came out yesterday. All of its quality opponents are road games. Two non-D1's, Morgan State, NC A&T, and Bryant are its home games. Buffalo is obviously rebuilding, but a home slate like that is pretty poor. Competitive mids are likely trying to avoid a similar situation.

We're in need of home games, so that's my guess as to where we're at. AP is the only known home opponent thus far.

Something I was just thinking about and wonder if someone could answer:

Do schools, conferences, media/TV take into consideration tickets already sold prior to flexing a game to a different day? This won't happen, but say that Akron game was marked as sold out before it was determined that the game would be moved from Saturday to Friday. Would they still move it? I'm just assuming something like that is thought of beforehand, but probably not. And way easier to switch a game that isn't sold out compared to one that is.

Purdue made it to the convo in fall 1970. Sharp shooter "Rick Mount" and his highly rated basketball team lost to the Bobcats. Bring em back !

We might be able to get the 1970 Purdue team to play us in the Convo, but I'm not sure that'll actually count as an official game.

I wouldn't worry that much about this. Marshall is in December. Ohio almost certainly isn't going to have most of December off and have all of the 5 unknown dates wedged into November. Most will be in December.

So, this Robert Morris game is on black friday weekend when the students are gone and people are out bargain shopping?

Last minute single game tickets to that should be $1 each. And free parking.

Yes, that's on Thanksgiving weekend, specifically on Saturday. There still won't be many students. I would contend stuff like that is going to happen sometimes. You are going to end up playing 2 non-conference games a week most weeks in November & December with few exceptions. One of those expectations is near Christmas for most teams. So you'll end up playing near Thanksgiving most years and be at home half of those. I don't know if that was a complain or just an observation but I think some of you have unrealistic expectations when it comes to scheduling. What schools are available and willing and the other school's interests are going to come into play. We aren't going to have mostly bought home games at our budget nor is every home game going to be on non-holiday Saturdays and the road games on the least desirable dates.

There is a home football game on Black Friday but if we played on Tuesday, Friday, or Friday that week was probably mostly ESPN's doing.

Supposedly hosting Morehead State on 12/7. Wondering if this is a typo and meant to be 12/17 because we’re at Marshall 12/7. In any case, buy game. And then there was one.

D1 Docket updated and moved @Marshall to a TBD. If that means we've gained a Saturday home date, I'm happy.

Morehead was 26-9 last season but lost their coach and several key players.

Best time to play a program like that, when they are rebuilding.

This probably means that, yes, it means us and the date isn't a typo either, but I was wondering also, since it a buy game, if he might have got the team wrong, instead of the date, and meant Ohio State. It still happens sometimes.

History says that the last game will be a home game against a non-D1. I'd bet on it pretty heavily but we'll see.

Morehead has really been the cream of the crop in the OVC the last 4 seasons. At least 22 wins with two NCAA’s and an NIT 2nd round run. Yea, it’s coach left but looks like it brought in a former assistant of his back from Murray State. Continuity and culture remain.

I looked at the roster. Returning 3 rotational players and added a JUCO All-American big man among some other low major D1 transfers. I’m wait and see, might reload instead of rebuild. Great Saturday home game nonetheless.

If we are paying Morehead State 90k to come to Athens, then our AD needs to be fired. This has to be Ohio State.

Ohio State has already released their non-conference schedule, but they do have a large gap between the end of November past mid-December. 90K is extremely steep for us to be paying anyone.
