Miami is the second MAC team to release their non con. Not much. Six home games (two non D1s, two low majors, Air Force, and Wright), buy games at Michigan and IU, small neutral site tourney.
To begin with .. I believe every MAC team should have at least two power conference teams on the schedule, with teams like Ohio and Akron (MAC favorites) perhaps having three.
Does that mean maybe just seven or eight non-conference wins. So what, quality MAC teams (Top 4) should win 12 conference games or more for a total of 20 wins.
Earn a MAC Tournament title and that means 23 or 24 wins. I'd rather see that, with a Top 100 RPI or better, vs. a 27-28 win MAC team with a 125-plus RPI.
That's hard to get even with a top-heavy quality mid-major non-con schedule. If that non-con sked does not have a bunch of A-10, WCC, C-USA, American teams on the list - and you win the bulk of those games - you're fooling yourself about how good your team is.
The MAC should look for a Top 10 NCAA Tournament seed, annually. You're whistling through the grave yard with a 12 or 13 seed, and hoping for a NCAA upset. Yes, it happens, but not often.
Prepare yourself early, to win late.
IMO.
