Those look like good additions on paper.

Are there not three more open roster spots?
Did someone hook fishbate and have him for dinner?

They might not even have the money to sign me at this point. Me just eyeballing and ball-parking I think we're likely close to $500K. That seems like a hell of a lot more than we've ever had to use in seasons past. Don Wood must be handing out Land Cruisers left and right.

This is likely why it's been a few weeks since a new transfer has been brought in. We're at the backend of our budget trying to find the right fits. I'm curious what's going on with Siebe and if that's still happening.

McCree from Westerville North committed to a D-2 the other day.

Were we ever interested in him? Shot over 40% from three.

More likely someone ran the hook through the fiishbait and tossed it in the pool and a recruit will take the bait, hook, line and sinker and become a multi-year Green bobCat.

If our NIL money totally spent, the rest of recruiting season may not be too exciting. The next three guys might be "roster filler" with the hope at least one can be a role player and contribute something. Some sort of big would be interesting as teams are scrambling to get them, for better or worse. A "big" could include a space heater type guy. It doesn't have to be a 7-3 freak. A Dwight Wilson adjacent 250 pound guy might be a good addition.

We’ve been in contact with Jamaal Phetty from College of Sequoias (JUCO). Not as much on him. Only played in 14 games while averaging 5ppg and 4rpg due to injuries. 6’8 and currently holds offer from Fairfield.

Is not understood the last couple of guys won't be AJ Dyb-nasty or Cam Boozer? Hope for the best at getting a few scout team guys and maybe a project tall guy.

Wonder if we have contacted Myles Thompson?

Still uncommitted after entering the portal. Averaged 11/6 for SIU Edwardsville. Had 13/5 vs Western Michigan back in December. 11 and 13 vs Drake.

Only 6'7'. Smaller PF, but listed at 240.

Looks like he was injured much of last year, so that could be whats going on, but as we've said - we're running at slim pickins these days and can't afford much anyway. Veteran wide body who could potentially come in off the bench, has had decent games against familiar comp.

Prior to SIUE: Helped Barton win the NJCAA National Championship in 2023-24...Barton finished 26-1...Scored 27 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in the Championship game.

My guess is their scouring whats left in HS looking for project depth, but he could be a cheap addition if others aren't offering, and at the very least would bring something to practice, familiarity with winning (in JUCO).

I feel like we're in the period of professional FA where teams and players are waiting to see who blinks first.

Outside of Jaquay Randolph, none of the current players we've been linked to have committed anywhere despite having lists of interest. We might be lower on funds at this point, but some of these kids and their agents might be asking too much and hoping some schools get desperate after whiffs and overpay.

Guys like Marshal Destremau, Micah Curtis, Trey Harris, Ilija Milijasevic have been in the portal for nearly two months.

Haven't seen any connections to Thompson. He has interest from Drake, Southern Miss, and St. Joe's as of a few weeks ago.

Looking at the recent follows/interest, I think we'll see lower level adds to fill out bench/roster. Can't fault staff for this year's portal season. They're definitely turning over every rock and it takes two sides to make a deal.

I wonder what is up with Mason Nicholson. 6-10/280

He's been in the portal for a long time. Asking for too much $$ perhaps?

His numbers at Jax St. were solid but not spectacular. 7.5 and 5 the last time he played a full season. Then he transferred to Vandy and redshirted. (medical?)

Do guys ever fire their agent and lower their asking price to not get stranded?

Joe Tipton just tweeted Top flight PG's are commanding between $2.5-$4 million. The cost of doing business (roster building) effectively is just rapidly inflating. Probably why so much is still unsettled. Everyone's perceived value of themselves is going up.

Tennessee which has an athletic budget of $$$$$$$$$$$ just picked up the backup center from VCU who has a 4ppg career average.

The leftovers are getting very slim.

This is the likely scenario a lot of "holdouts" are hoping for, I imagine.

Deep bench, practice body spots at a place like Tennessee vs 10-15 mins in the G5.

Indiana brought in a PG transfer from Maryland Eastern Shore who averaged 6ppg this past season the other day. It's wonky out there.

Arizona just picked up the backup center from Idaho St. - career 5ppg

I wonder if these scout team guys are getting any NIL or just a schollie.

UPDATE: Mississippi State adds 3ppg backup forward from a HBCU school today

We’ve been contact with Middle Georgia State (D2) transfer Krishen Atwell. 6’6 wing who averaged 14ppg, but only shot 31% from 3.

Can he play tough defense?

While 31% isn't Eian Elmer like (41.3% career also 6'6") if he can rebound and be an improvement on defense then he could be a nice man off the bench--especially since the video shows efficiency in mid range jumpers and putting the ball on the floor.

Outside of seeing he averaged 1.1spg, it's tough to find measurables for his defensive value. I don't think BR or EvanMiya provide advanced metrics on D2. QuantCat or BLSS, do you know of anything?

He's described as a productive scorer, excels at creating space, and a tough-shot maker. Great attributes for out type of offense, especially off the bench. I'm with you, though. Would like to know more on how he fairs on the defensive side.

Jacari Brim 1ppg freshman at Appy St. to NC State.

I'm still wondering if these scout team taxi squad guys get any NIL$$ at all.

It would be hard to see an ACC program giving much to a 1ppg mid-major guy.
