Looks like we have another commit. Boals just posted a Bobcat GIF not too long ago, something he's previously posted for other commits.

Another solid pickup for Kent. Jaylen Smith from ETSU who averaged 9ppg and 3apg for SoCon regular season champs. Smith also won 6th man of the year in SoCon. A lot of upside here for Kent.

Any word on who JJ is talking to? Very curious to see where he lands. Seems like a very wide array of possibilities there.

Whomever it is - he's not tipping his hand, nor is anyone else - in the usual ways via instagram follows. He's still following all OU pages and coaches. Not following any other teams that I could tell other than Penn State football.

I'm sure it's not likely, but we did apparently just have Rere Jennings on the women's side enter the portal and then decide to stay here. I wonder how receptive Boals and the staff would be if JJ tests the waters and decides he wanted to come back?

I'm sure they'd make room, but I can't imagine there is much left by way of NIL dollars at this point, and Boals has been known to hold a grudge or three.

He's a good player and has a lot of potential, but doors are closing fast and he may have overplayed his hand. Though these days, that means he's probably looking at a P5 bench - which I'm sure was the goal anyway, but I think starters spots are getting full across the country. P5 is about the only place with money, but the landscape is vastly different than it was a few weeks ago. "Good" (does that even exist anymore?) options are limited. MAC schools and the like are going to have to shuffle some funds to get him in. Maybe he ends up with Groce down in Charleston?

If the rumors from others on this board are true, it wasn't Kelly's decision to leave, it was the staff's.

Toledo lands UMass-Lowell’s Angel Montas. 16ppg, averaged 20ppg in league play and was first team American East. 6’6. Solid rebuild by Tod K and Toledo.

Boals and staff have 2 (or 3) openings left? Wondering if he's saving one for a potential change of heart by JJ. Or maybe for Pavs if the NCAA moves to a 5 for 5 eligibility rule before the 2026-27 hoops season. This possible new NCAA rule is the reason Pavs and Hadaway, and many other 2026 seniors across the country, put their name in the portal before the deadline last week. Or course, it's a 2-way street with the players having to have interest as well.

I think this is very unlikely: https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/48612238/o...

From today's news:

This "5-for-5" rule is not expected to apply to current athletes graduating by spring 2026, nor will it be retroactive.

Once Siebe is official (knock on wood), we’ll have two openings left.

I’d be shocked if any of those 3 return. Boals really seems to be resetting the program.

Players still available we’ve been linked to:

Tamiel Green
Marshal Destremau
Micah Curtis
Kenyon Giles
Ilija Milijasevic
Trey Harris (D2)
Jaquay Randolph (D2)

Unsure if Kolton’s addition would mitigate interest in Giles or Milijasevic. Both are small guards.

Chansey Willis returns to the MAC with Kent State. Probably an early favorite for MAC POY.

If memory serves, this is referring to one mild point saying maybe it wasn't his decision. If there is any merit or smoke to this being the case, I would really like to hear about it. I've sung the praises of JJ countless times the last 6 months as a great pupil and teammate, so I would be completely shocked and a bit disturbed.

Randolph would be a huge get. I wrote about him a few months ago. Highly productive. Extremely active. Very consistent.

20.8 points, 15.4 rebounds (!), 1 block.

1st team all con, 1st team defense.

Not only did Randolph lead the country in rebounding, he led D2 in offensive rebounds per game as well. He was also the D2 leader in double-doubles (25 in 29 games). I believe he broke the school record in points as well with 47 or 49, something like that. He can ball.

I wonder if this is accurate. This post was made two days ago by an account called the The Basketball Tribune with 100 followers. No other outlet has reported Jaquay's commitment and he has nothing on his X account (he didn't even reshare). His IG is private.

Your guess is as good as any.

Portland St. was listed on his original list from a legit source but that was a while back....
