7-4 bottom of the 8th. Need a few insurance runs.
Unfortunately, did get them. Now let's close it out with a one-two-three inning.

WooHoo! Was in Erie this weekend and was hoping to maybe hit the title game on the way home, but I just couldn't work out the timing. However, got the stretch internet feed with no trouble the whole way home and listened to the final out while unloading the car. Amazing! What an 8th inning!

Congratulations CATS!

Rob Smith deserves a pat on the back. Two MAC tournament title in 5 seasons at the helm. Joe Carbone had only 2 MAC titles in 24 seasons so its an impressive start to Smith's tenure.

But, but, but...

In all seriousness, Ohio should be a MAC power and a regional power. The fact Kent State did that instead of us when looking at both schools and weather is a joke. Getting the right coach here is starting to pay dividends. Smith will be getting calls soon, and although baseball isn't quite like football and basketball at the college level, he could be moving on. Have to keep the momentum going.

If this doesn't end all of the "but, but, but' type of things for all, nothing will, but it seems like that ship has sailed mostly.

Like you said, the decisions made are starting to truly pay dividends, let's hope he sticks around long enough to keep building.

Smith was definitely the better coach today. He wasted no time pulling Salisbury in the third when he struggled. But EMU didn't seem to have anybody ready in the 8th after Ibarra's double. Delaplane might have been a different pitcher protecting a lead.

This team is fun to watch. There's a different hero every day.

Of course, Ohio had an advantage in that its bullpen had not been used at all the last two days because of Colletti's complete game and a day off. Eastern Michigan played three games in that span.

Sadly (but predictable) not one mention in today's dispatch. Not even a line score in agate type.

Rob Smith = John Groce.

That's a compliment. Lets hope he sticks around.

True. But EMU had Delaplane ready (or as ready as he could be) right after Black's dinger. Seems to me they should've anticipated trouble with the leadoff hit and done some stalling for time to get somebody ready. They didn't.
