I don't think this season was a disappointment. Sure, it wasn't amazing, but after losing Longo, Adryan, Gaertner & Dejesus from the lineup you'd be crazy to expect a huge year. Can't complain about middle of the pack in the MAC.

And hopefully peaking at the right time. Game 1 will be huge, if we can put a win on the board and get another crack at Kent that would be huge.

Agree with you Andrew. We have played well down the stretch and this first game is a big one. Hopefully we can get on the winners side of the bracket! Go Bobcats ! This stadium is a great venue. Cool place to watch baseball.

Bobcats strand the tying run at 3rd with a bang-bang play at first and win 4-3.

Ohio faces Kent St. Thursday night at 8 on ESPN3.

First time I've seen Ohio baseball in years. One of the benefits of the ESPN package.

Not a pretty win -- left the bases loaded three straight innings; stranded 16 overall; scored two runs on a bases-loaded walk and a WP -- but, as Nuke LaLush once said, "It's like better than losing."

It appears to be raining fairly heavily at times up there today, so we might get a late start tonight. I guess that's what Watch ESPN replays are good for.

Go Cats!!!

What an incredible performance by Spencer Ibarra - 5 Hits with the game winner. What a year he has put together, wonder if he might be a late round senior draft pick. We would've been toast without it, he carried the team on his back while Salisbury battled on the mound.

I am assuming Michael Klein will get the start tonight, he will have to bring his A game because the Bobcats will probably see what may be the best pitcher in the conference and a pro prospect - Joey Murray from Dublin. 1.98 ERA and 102 Ks in 68 innings, gulp. BUT we got to him pretty well last weekend. GO BOBCATS.

10:45 p.m. and the game is just getting ready to start on ESPN3. Why does the MAC do this to itself? Some kind of self-loathing? This is even worse than Tuesday night football in sub zero temperature in November. I see no excuse for this what so ever. This can't be dictated by ESPN3.

OK. Forget my whining. I guess it was just rain delays in the earlier games. What is BA for if not to complain and get it off your chest among friends. Good therapy.

Ibarra leads off the game with a hit. In the 3rd, smashes one off the first baseman and into right field. Called the play en error but plated the tying run. 1-1 in the middle of three.

I'm surprised at the fine quality of the camera work in this game. Obviously a limited crew and maybe only two cameras, but they are doing good work with some excellent replays. The announcers aren't half bad either.

Ibarra coming to bat with go-ahead run on second. 7th Inning.

Ohio beats top-seed Kent St. 5-3. The Bobcats are off until Saturday at 1 PM when they'll face Friday's Toledo/Kent St. winner.

I didn't even try to stay awake. What an impressive win to beat the regular season champs with their ace on the mound. Kent is in trouble with their 2 aces having gone the last 2 days and them needing a win today.

Will be interesting to see who starts for the Bobcats tomorrow. Salisbury (game 1 starter) on short rest, a bullpen guy, or roll the dice with Baird who has struggled a bit.

Colletti has started the last three times in the third game of MAC series, and I'd bet he gets the call. He had one really good start of six shutout innings against Buffalo. His starts against BG and Kent, he gave up 3 runs each in 4 and 4 1-3 innings, so the bullpen will have to be ready because he'll probably only go around 5 innings. But it could be the same if Baird starts and struggles. To me, it makes sense to save Salisbury and Klein for a potential final two games.

Bobcats will have Kent State again at 1. The Golden Flashes beat Toledo, 6-3. Kent State has to beat Ohio twice to get to the final. Same deal for Eastern Michigan against Central Michigan. Best-case scenario (as happened 2 years ago) is Ohio wins first game against Kent State and EMU gets a win over CMU. That would give the Bobcats two chances to win once Sunday for the title.

Eastern Michigan took care of the first part of this with a 9-1 win, giving Central Michigan its first tournament loss. Those two will play one more game for a spot in the final following Ohio's game against Kent State.

Kent State is pitching Zach Willeman, who has a 5.02 ERA. Ohio has to take advantage. If the Golden Flashes win, they may go back to Wednesday's starter, Eli Kraus, who shut out Toledo and has a 2.69 ERA, though it would be short rest.

Fielding miscue in bottom of 7th lets a run in. Bobcats still hold 5-2 lead after 7.

EMU beats CMU. Ohio faces the Eagles in the Championship game. EMU has to beat Ohio twice.

Definitely the best outing of the first three. Ohio looked sharp on offense, defense and pitching. Colletti really toughed it out over the last two innings. Kent was playing its third game in 48 hours and it may have had some effect but that wasn't the difference.

Today, Ohio's pitching staff should be well rested while EMU will be playing its fourth game in 48 hours, so Ohio may have an edge in that regard. Go Cats!!!
