ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio made up for a poor shooting night by making 23 of 30 free throws and grabbing 18 offensive rebounds in a 70-60 victory Wednesday night against Bowling Green in The Convo.
The Bobcats made just 38.5 percent of their shots, compared to 47.1 percent for the Falcons, but Tommy Freeman was on the mark for 20 points on 5-of-10 3-point shooting that made him the all-time career leader in treys in Ohio history.
DeVaughn Washington posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds, and Reggie Keely was one point shy with nine points and 12 boards in just 19 minutes. Ivo Baltic added 10 points in 18 foul-plagued minutes.

Scott Thomas’ 3-pointer slashed the Bowling Green deficit to five, but a Washington dunk was the start of a 7-0 run that sealed the victory.
With just 18 seconds remaining, Bowling Green’s Luke Kraus was called for a flagrant foul and ejected when he twice made contact with a closed fist to Freeman’s face.
After shooting just 33.3 percent in the first half, Ohio trailed 32-30, but bounced back to make 45.5 percent of its shots in the second half. The Bobcats also were 17 of 23 at the foul line in the second half.
Despite the poor shooting, Ohio built an early lead, going up 11-2 on a Washington three-point play.
Later, a Freeman 3-pointer put the Bobcats up 11 again, 28-21, but the Falcons dominated the final six minutes of the first half, including the final 11 points, taking the lead 32-30 on a Dee Brown jumper in the final seconds.
Bowling Green maintained the lead early in the second half, going up 40-36 on a Sealy dunk.
