Balanced scoring leads to easy exhibition win
Ohio puts 5 players in double figures in beating Wooster

ATHENS, Ohio – Five players scored in double-digits as Ohio cruised to an 86-50 victory against Wooster in its exhibition opener Saturday at The Convo.
Freshman T.J. Hall led the way with 15 points, while Tommy Freeman and Ivo Baltic had 12 points each. Ricardo Johnson and D.J. Cooper added 11 points apiece.
Ohio shot 54.5 percent from the floor, compared to 35.8 percent for Wooster, which had only one player – Nathan Balch with 13 points – score more than five points in the game.
Balch’s 3-pointer drew the Fighting Scots to within a point at 11-10 with 13:35 remaining in the first half, but Wooster missed 11 straight field goal attempts in the next 12 minutes as the Bobcats went on a 24-2 run and led 38-16 at halftime.
The Bobcats made 11 of 23 3-pointers, including 4 of 6 by Freeman and 3 of 4 by Hall.
Freeman and Cooper each dished out five assists, and Cooper led Ohio with three steals, although he also had five turnovers.
Keely made 4 of 5 shots from the field and finished with eight points and a team-high six rebounds, including five of them on the offensive end.
Ohio, playing without leading returning forward DeVaughn Washington, held a 35-23 rebounding advantage. No player for the Fighting Scots had more than three.
Wooster committed more turnovers, 19-13, and only went to the free throw line five times, making all five attempts. Ohio made 15 of 20 foul shot attempts.
The Bobcats outscored the Fighting Scots 43-18 in the paint and 17-2 on fast break points.
The final exhibition game is set for 2 p.m. Saturday against Walsh at The Convo.
