Bobcats Hold Off Golden Flash Second Half Run

Ohio scored a 60-59 upset of Kent State on Senior Day Saturday afternoon in Athens. The win allowed the Bobcats to break a 5-game losing streak and let Seniors Delvar Barrett, Jaivon Harris and Thomas Stephens walk off the Convocation center floor for the final time victorious. The 'Cats will be on the road Monday at Bowling Green for the first round of MAC Tourney play.
After having failed to score 20 points in the first half of either of its last two games, Ohio turned the tables on Kent St. and raced out to a 35-20 halftime lead. Jaivon Harris' sixth 3-pointer of the game gave the Bobcats a 49-32 lead with 9:44 remaining. A Jason Edwin layup capped a 25-9 run and cut the Ohio lead to 58-57 with :43 left. After two Thomas Stephens free throws, Eric Haut saw his 3-point attempt rattle out but get tipped in by Edwin with 1.8 seconds to go. OU was able to inbound to Harris who ran out the clock to seal the win.
Harris led all scorers with 19 points while Terren Harbut added 12. Haut and Edwin had 13 and 11 points respectively for the Flashes. The loss was the fourth straight for Kent St. who enters the MAC Tournament as the number-2 seed.
