I make the following comments not having seen the match, only some stats. I trust there were no injuries.

1. The team had taken a step back the last two weeks from its excellent play. That catches up with you on a tough road trip. You never want to lose, but the coaches should have no problem getting the ladies' attention this week.

2. Now there is no doubt. The MAC is a one bid league. The only way Ohio gets into the NCAA tourney is by winning the MAC tourney. Every practice and match will take place with that as the ultimate goal...

All very good points here, and obvious if you've been watching/keeping up with all the matches. The girls have taken a few steps back these past few matches (minus Akron and Buffalo) but they are getting the job done with talent alone.I think this loss was much needed, because the girls seemed to have been "just getting by" as of late. Especially in some aspects of the game (serving).

One thing stood out to me listening to the match online last Saturday, we don't have a girl we can rely on to score when it's needed. There is no "go to" girl on this team like there was last year. I was a little stunned when Deane yanked Jaime, then again, listening online maybe didn't do much justice for how poorly she was playing in his eyes, but still, she is considered the "go to" offensive player to score us points. I found it odd.

We have an awesome defense, but when the outsides can't score, then what? It puts more pressure on the middles, who are hot and cold this year.

Yah, if the loss jolts complacency and makes clear to the ladies that there's a long way to go and plenty of room for improvement, then okay.

I'm really waiting for the MAC tourney to tell me what the ladies are made of.

I think anyone who has seen them play the last few games could see this coming. Maybe not the shellacking it ended up being, but a loss was coming. Hopefully that's the only one, and in the grand scheme of things, it didn't hurt us that much. We still have a 1 game lead on the top spot in the MAC, and hopefully the loss gets the focus back to where it needs to be.

I think you have to look a little deeper than just one player. When Ashy only records 6 digs in a match it tells me the blocking just wasn't on that night and their hitters had to much room to swing freely and no touches at the net.
This loss was coming and they finally ran into a team that didn't equal their mistakes like the previous 2 weeks.

Aw c'mon Monroe, no need to wait till the MACC, live in the moment a little. If not you won't be stopping to smell the roses as this team journeys through a long season. : )

Of course you have to look a little deeper, there's always more to this than just one player. The girls were aced a lot, and there were attack errors all over. It was a total team loss on Saturday. I was just saying, I was shocked he pulled his go to offensive player. It was a team struggle, and the numbers scream that.

This is what makes sports so great you never know what to expect any given night. It's tough to win on the road especially back to back nights. How ever it can be tough to win at home also. Just ask Nebraska losing two in a row at home. It's a long season with ups and downs. Lets hope the bobcats will finish strong.
