In the Rosen report, their coach talks about the Ohio Invitational towards the end. The interviewer recalls playing Ohio in 2009 NCAA match that went 5 sets.

They beat us again a few years later, I think in five as well. We owe them. Too bad UM isn't the Friday night game. You'd have 4K+ in the building easy.

Should be a telling weekend.

LSU is 0-3 but a SE conference team so they should be decent and have already played no. 3 Texas so they've seen one of the best.

Xavier is always good and have been a competitive opponent of ours. They are 2-1 with wins over Northern Ken. & EMU with a loss to UC (who lost to EMU so who knows?)

And of course Michigan will be a strong favorite but we've shown in the past we can go down to the wire with them..

Let's beat them all, then root for them the rest of the season.

GO OHIO.

Bobcats sweep LSU. S-E-C! S-E-C! SEC or not, the Tigers don't appear to be a strong team at all.

For what it's worth...LSU lost at #3 Texas, scoring 55 points in 3 sets...
LSU lost at Ohio, scoring 54 points in 3 sets...

FWIW part two...Thru 5 matches, Abby has 153 assists. Thru 4 matches, our opponents have 153 assists...

WOW! Just finished watching the Xavier match - first two sets in the Convo with my granddaughters (6,4 and 1) and the last three at home on the computer. Cats dug a deep hole losing the first two sets but came back to win the next three. Great student turnout including the men's basketball team. We got a bit predictable running middle and left side a tad too much and ran the pants off of Gilleland with some less than stellar passing in the first two sets. Way too many service errors but one kid played her a%^ off. Meredith Ashy is the real deal. Congrats Bobcats and let's take it to Michigan tomorrow. For those of you who don't live in Athens, you're missing a great thing in OU volleyball.

ohiobobcats.com says 4000 fans at the comeback win over Xavier. That is a helluva crowd. Must have been awfully exciting.

Only downside is that the 'cats had to expend a lot of energy against Xavier to get the win. We'll see how that affects their ability against Michigan...

That's true but Michigan also played 8 sets yesterday. Our offense needs to be more in synch and we need to play our A game to get a win. This will be one of our toughest challenges this year, and a win will do wonders for our RPI.

Michi-GONE! Go OHIO.

It was. We had a few large crowds last year but don't believe we topped 4k. Also, a large group of students stayed after half and were really into the match. We may finally have a student base which has been missing.

I think we are all tired of Michigan beating us in five, but it was a fun weekend, with great enjoyable volleyball, and we are pretty good.

This team reminds me of our basketball team that made it to the Sweet 16. On a given night they can play with anyone.

I was nice to see Stephanie Olman get some playing time, but I would have liked to see Brooke Coleman on the court also. Mallory Salis is nursing a injury, and Brooke played well against Kentucky on Tuesday. Also, it seems that Michigan wore the team down by the fifth set with their depth.

Very good write-up and synopsis of the match with Michigan.

http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/w-volley/recaps/090515aab.html

Also, their left handed backside hitter killed us. We just couldn't seem to rotate far enough right to handle her cutting kills. A good match nonetheless for the Bobcats and a great prep for the next two tournaments and then MAC play. Hoping for a few votes in this week's poll.

It was a good crowd - not the biggest I've seen, but a big crowd nonetheless. The local folks have truly gotten behind this team and been behind the volleyball team for 10+ years. It all started with Mike Lessinger as coach and then ramped up from there. With the right emphasis from the ad, there could be 4K to 5K in the Convo every weekend. I'd love to talk with the players and coaches from opposing teams about their thoughts on playing in the Convo.

Two observations. We need new uniforms. What we're currently wearing is what my granddaughter calls "boring." Michigan really had a great look head to toe. Second, the "commercial" for the starting lineup has to go. The video that is playing right now is fantastic, Lou does a great job, but to throw in a "this lineup is brought to you by some random hair place uptown and that so and so and so and so will be happy to cut your hair" brings the whole thing down. The folks behind me and to my left for the Michigan match could be heard saying, "you've got to be f&^%ing kidding me." I had to chuckle and agree. That spot needs to go.

I was embarassed. What's next?: "And that kill by Kosiorek is brought to you by ..."

Brooke wasn't in game uniform for either day but was on the bench, as was Carly Remmers. Carly was a top 100 recruit and is nursing an injury. You're gonna like her once she's in game form!
