Thursday it's Kent 9-8(2-2) picked 2nd one spot ahead of us. Mutual opponents: both beat 'Kron & Beef, lost to Fiami. Against BG they went down 3-1 while we swept them.

Saturday it's EMU 7-10(2-2) (no mutual opponents) when the 'Herminator', Ellen Herman, gets inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Nice win tonight. Offensively this team seems to be able to put balls away. Congrats ladies, well done, fun to watch!

Seemed really out of sorts for much of the 2nd set, but they played pretty well from that point on. Good win!

Three pretty close, generally well-played sets (we won 2). Set 4 we ran away with.

The team played well. Mal was killing it. Erica and Brooke covered the ball really well. Jaime’s serving was powerful and Stephanie set well. Ally’s hitting % high as usual.

Lizzie in a boot from a hairline fracture. Sara wasn’t dressed (nothing obvious, anyone know?) A redshirt frosh, Natalie Burchesky, who has played very little this year, got the start. With her in, at times we had two 6’4” middle blockers playing together, and they (Natalie and Katie) combined for 9 of our 14 blocks.

Nice game ladies.

Congrats, we beat EMU last night. It wasn't pretty, but it was a win. With some of the former players in attendance for homecoming weekend, it was nice to secure the win.

Are we coming together? Are we getting in position to make a credible run at the MAC title?

Anything is possible, but at this point I would say we are the third best team in the league, behind Miami and Northern Illinois. In our favor against Miami, would be if we beat them when we play them in Athens, we would have split the series. If we lose in Athens, it would mean we would be 0-2 during the regular season, and if we played them in the tournament, they would have to beat us a third time to advance. This would be a classic upset scenario, especially if we keep improving.

Northern Illinois is good, they have beaten Tennessee this season, and they will host the tournament. However, they just squeaked by Toledo this weekend, so they are not invincible.

I know RPI is just one measure with definite faults, but Ohio (128) is fifth in the MAC behind Miami (54), Northern Illinois (71), Bowling Green (103) and Toledo (112).

There's a fair drop-off after that: Western Michigan (174), Kent State (202), Central Michigan (206), Eastern Michigan (210), Ball State (239) and Akron (296).

My honest feel with this team, being a non-volleyball expert who attends every home game, is that they could go on a run and win the tourney. They could also lose in the first round. And anything in between. The potential is there, but they have to put it together at the right time.
