Agree this will be a very interesting season for OHIO. Some don’t believe they’ll do much this season with all their player losses and with the MAC as strong and deep as it has ever been. Volleytalk has a thread on the MAC from people who follow this a lot more closely than I do, and some ‘experts’ claim OHIO won’t be in the top 8, (that’s how good the MAC has become), but others feel they’ll be contenders for the championship. On a given night, at least 12 teams are capable of winning. Miami (picked 1st in East) and Kent are very strong and the West may be even stronger.
Ohio has huge holes to fill losing 4 ALL-MAC players: the POY setter and libero are biggest holes to fill. But they have all 3 pin hitters back plus a 6’4” part-time starting MB, 2 redshirts, including a medical redshirt looking to play, and 5! frosh coming with credentials. PrepVBall cited 4 strong recruiting classes in the MAC, with WMU 1st, and also listing Ohio, Ball, and BG. A few of our recruits were quite impressive in the Green-White game and some will be playing I’m sure.
Big weekend with 2 PrepVBall top 50 teams in town. We play Friday night against No. 26 Western Kentucky, and Sat. eve against No. 47 Villanova, with a morning Sat. game against Fla. Gulf Coast.
Go OHIO
