Huge Bobcat V-Ball fan that's been following the team for a long time. I'm wondering why we aren't setting up, and quite frankly, playing Ali Lake more?? The girl puts the ball through the floor if she's set up appropriately...and yet barely any sets to her. And she seems to be playing so little? She was a first team all conference last year, preseason all conference this year and there was lots of talk about her being player of the year!!!! What is Dean doing? I believe she is a 5th year senior as well, so what is he waiting for? Anyone have any idea what's going on with this? Seems like an awful waste of talent.....he should be thanking her all day for not transferring as a 5th year, as so many have in the past.

It's called no loyalty (unless there are other issues) someone better comes in you're done. Coaches in the old days used to make players prove themselves in practice and games before a vet would lose a spot. Now the pressure is so immediate to win at all costs it hurts a lot of feelings.

I hear you, but who's better? She doesn't make a lot of errors and she pounds the ball. Seems to me like he's got something against her? Wonder what's going on? They could be setting her all over the floor.

Sounds to me like grumpy parent or relative griping. I mean three post and all centering around the same player. Hmmmm

Yep. Not a good place to be for parents.

Hi, I'm Ali's mom/parent. I/we have nothing to do with this. I love where Ali is and how the team and coach are doing. Just want you to know this is not her parents or anyone we know of. We are thrilled with every aspect of Bobcat volleyball and how hard the girls are working through some really rough circumstances. Go Bobcats!

Seriously? I'm actually an alumni of Ohio and have been a fan of the program for years. Having known the last several coaches personally, I always take an interest. When visiting, I went to a game a few years ago and was impressed by this player, and for the first time wrote about it on this site as I was advised to by a fellow alumnist. I watched two games with a young family member that is/was thinking about applying and saw that same player (putting up good stats and not getting set a ton still) and decided to ask on this forum as to why she wasn't....thinking that people on here might know if there was an injury situation or something of the like. Instead i get a post like that questioning if I'm a hidden family member or something??? This is exactly why I don't post anything, ever, because of people like you that make simple innocent posts look like some conspiracy or complaining person. I will drop my "membership" to this site and be thoroughly disappointed that the school I went to has people like you associated with it.

I'm sure the coach is reading this site and will take your talent observations to heart and quickly move to rectify the issues you see as wrong. Most coaches always take the advice of annomous posters.

Considering how the team has played the last two weeks, maybe the coach should take advice from anonymous posters on the message board.

Yea, THEN they'll be beating the #2 team in the country at their place.

(Sarcasm, FYI)

This team is decimated by injuries and doing the best they can against pretty stiff competition. I trust that Coach Webb knows what he is doing.

We can't rule out that it's Kevin Durant posting anonymously.

Glad to hear your comments. Ali is a joy to watch! (From one of the "Lake Effect" contingent)

I watched most of the Wake Forrest match, as much as I could stomach. They looked great in game one, winning the set. After that the team did not play up to its' ability. They looked as if they were reacting instead of being aggressive. They were on their heals. I don't know if you watched the match but Tia looked like a future all American in game one, and the invisible woman in the next three matches. Our passing was so predicable in games two through four, that the majority of time, our fancy passes and the attacks were covered by two defenders. I would have rather seen Ali, and especially Tia, just slam the ball, no fancy passes just slam a jammah.

I know we are injured, but to my untrained eye it was not good. Hey, it is only my humble amateur opinion, and I hope I piss off the team, if that motivates them to step it up.

Good Wake Forest coaching making proper adjustments.

Seemed like Ali was benched for the latter half of the match. Shouldn't Carley
Remmers go back to the left front where she played against Oklahoma, and get your First Team All Mac player back on the court and involved in the offense?

Good to see Ali back. Steph Olman has been been playing well in her spot so it will be interesting to see how coach shuffles players in the few weeks ahead getting ready for a tourney run. Only 2 seniors on this team, Ali and Jaime, who was a strong candidate for MAC POY before being forced to take the med redshirt year.

Also cleared to play is Dahlias Bouyer and she will start practicing but will maintain the redshirt frosh year as much of season is over. She was expected to start but was still recovering from surgery so coaches switched the frosh redshirts and Tia got to play. Tia is now a strong candidate for Frosh POY in MAC. So next year she will play along with 5'11" Dahlias who already touches 10’11". And hopefully with 6’4” Katie Nelson back, we will be one powerful team in the middle where we’ve have trouble this year.
