Gotta give kudos to Freshman Tia Jimerson for garnering MAC Freshman of the Year honors, Freshman Vera Giacomazzi for earning MAC Setter of the Year honors and Sophomore Lizzie Stephens for earning All-MAC 1st Team recognition.

Jimerson is the 4th Bobcat to get FotY, she led the MAC in Hit% vs. MAC Opponents by a hefty margin, .381 (girl behind her was .369). For those who have followed Ohio, she was suppose to redshirt before all the injuries started to pile up. Per Deane, she's the first freshman to lead the MAC in Hit% vs. MAC since '08.

Giacomazzi has totaled the 10th most Assists in the NCAA, and is the second Freshman in the top 10. Her 1,204 Assists is the most by a freshman in Ohio's rally scoring era.

Stephens took the O1 role after injuries. She's already broken two school records, the single season aces record with 57, it's also the fourth most in the NCAA. Her 0.50 Aces/Set mark is highest in Ohio history. Stephens totaled 425 kills (3.7 Kills/Set, 4th in MAC) this year. She's had quite the improvement from a year ago (67 Kills, 3 Aces)

She didn't get any MAC honors, but Jr. Stephanie Olman has been clicking as well in these last few matches, she'll be key come Tourney time. Keep an eye on Fr. libero Macy Reihing in the back row, future All-MAC player herself, just had a slow start to the year.

Young group with a returning Katie Nelson in the lineup come tournament time (11/16 - 11/20) in Fiami. Ohio's #4, faces Buffalo/EMU winner Friday night. #1 Miami awaits either UB/EMU/Ohio in the semi's.

I'm not certain how far the ladies will go in the tourney, but next year looks bright IF. THEY. CAN. AVOID. INJURIES.

I don't know the specifics of Jamie's knee surgery, but if she can just be serviceable next year, it would be a big plus. Carly was a top 100 recruit and has never had an injury free year. How good could she be if healthy for a full season? Will the Bouyer girl be ready? She's not played for almost 2 years, but was regarded as a top 50 recruit after her junior season.

Coach has indicated that Tia should improve with a year of off season conditioning. Lizzie should be better...the list goes on. Really, the off season will be crucial.

Add in a great sounding recruit in Lauren Park, a 2-time first team all Ohioan.

This team should be among the top 2 next year, preseason.

They were a 4 seed in the MAC this year with Jamie K, Simone, Katie, and Dahlias Bouyer either all out for the season or missing most of it. Add in Carley missing some time with injury, Ali Lake missing time, and Meredith Howe even being in a boot for what seemed like only a week or so. The injury bug bit them hard this year...and they were still a 4 seed? Pretty scary to think about what this team can do next year IF they can stay healthy.

I'm realistically excited and encouraged about a Bobcat presence in the MAC volleyball tournament for the first time in many years.

4:30 can't get here fast enough.
