Can those of you who watch volleyball, tell us why the team has hit the skids? Did players leave? Has Geoff lost his touch? What’s up?

A number of factors are involved, not the least four probable starters out for some time and the hire was late in the summer. New system, as well.
The late hire will affect recruiting for next season more than likely, too. Improvement will come, though.

Since Tia is gone, that means her dad who barks to fire the team up is gone. 100% attributing it to that.

Oh, no doubt! Grandpa, though.

A win, and a dominant one.

A rebuilding year as 1-11 Ohio takes down a good 12-4 Toledo and now sits first in the MAC. Who knows? Toledo again today at 2. Go OHIO!

It’s a little funny (and a bit telling) that on the FB board when you go 0-3 and have cowboy hats it’s a travesty but not a word was said about Geoff dancing on social media after starting 0-11.

Dancing after a win and celebrating during a blowout loss are very different things.

They are very young, and should have won Thursday match (Per the ESPN announcers) against a good Ball State team. Next year they will be very good.

Call me skeptical, but I've never seen a team go from one win to "very good" the next year. Shoulda coulda woulda Thursday night, but then they get swept on Friday. This team isn't that young if you look at our core being the Margolies (JRs), O'Farrell (JR), and Maggie being a super senior. Yeah, we have a sophomore setter and libero, but these were two people that CRUSHED it last year. I think it's just showing how much talent we lost last year. Mariana, gone. Vera, gone. Macy, gone. Super missing Tia. It just kind of shows how we didn't really build anyone behind these people. Losing 3-4 people takes you from a 12 win team that made a decent run in the tourney to a 1 win team? I don't buy we'll be very good next year. Middle of the pack, maybe...

Geoff will get his own recurits in that can deal with his personality and coaching style. That will be important for his success. Not everyone can play for and excel with him. But when he gets his type of kids, he will be beyond competitive again.

I really hope so. Always heard how dominant he was and then Theis followed it up. Think it’d be awesome to have a sport that we’re consistently dominant at.

He hasn't posted a winning season since 2016 or a winning conference season since 2015, and his successor in Columbus immediately turned the team around, but yeah, I'm sure he'll be fine.

Look at Andy Reid. He won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs in 2019 after being dismissed from the Philadelphia Eagles in 2012 due to the team's decline.

As BTC said, give him a few years, and I'll bet he'll have the Bobcats back in contention and winning post season games. He had some good years at O$U, finishing as high as 4th in the B1G twice, but some not so good years, finishing 9th and 10th in his last two years in Cowtown. We all know what he did at OHIO during his last gig here. I see no reason that he can't do that again. Perhaps, he's a better fit here because of his coaching style and the kind of women that he recruits. Maybe when he recruits "diamonds in the rough" and coaches them up, he's able to motivate thlem in a way that he can't with blue chip recruits. Back in the day, this was a problem that Jim Snyder had in basketball. He had trouble handling and motivating the blue chip players he recruited late in his career, but was exceptional with the under the radar guys that made him the legend that he became. Perhaps, that'll be true with Geoff. Time will tell, but my bet is that this will, indeed, be the case.

Weren't the better players when he was here the first time lauded recruits for the most part?

Also, I'll take your bet.

1. I don't think they were blue chip, nationally ranked recruits. I could be wrong, but I don't remember any that were the equivalent of Ulice Payne, Larry Slappy or Walter Luckett.

2. Dinner and the beer of your choice at Jackie O's?

Watch out, Fitz. Ol' oil tanker scow Popeye still has some outstanding tabs on record.

Consider the source of that last comment, an old rice paddy grunt whose brain has been wracked with inhaling too much gun powder smoke.

Nice win Saturday. They lost a tough 5 setter Friday, but stepped it up Saturday with 5 set win. Congrats!
