Just for grins, I compared the MAC's divisions via the final RPI rating(s).  Of course, OU plays in the East.  Toledo, last in the West, had a better RPI than 5 of the East division teams.

East:
Ohio no. 51
BGSU no. 135
Miami no. 140
Buffalo no. 213
Kent St. no. 214
Akron no. 230

West:
Northern Illinois no. 14
Western Mich no. 32
Ball St no. 34
Eastern Mich no. 68
Central Mich no. 74
Toledo no. 127

Of note, the Bobcats were 10-0 vs. MAC East teams (hard to improve on) and 3-3 vs. MAC West teams.  OU beat Eastern, Central and Toldeo -- while losing to Ball St, Northern and Western.  In fact, OU was 14-4 in MAC play -- with 4 losses (one each) to the 4 NCAA tournament teams.  One could argue the Bobcats might have earned a split with one or more of the MAC West teams if given an opportunity to play each at home;  with an obvious positive bump in their RPI number.

Given the fact that the MAC Tourney seeds (1-8) are based on overall MAC record now (vs. by division), it might make sense for the MAC to do a better job of blending the entire league -- vs. splitting the teams by division.  Clearly, OU's RPI was hurt by the level of play in the East ... and it likely cost them a spot in the national tournament.

Something to think about as MAC volleyball continues to climb the ladder nationally.

So basically, we are to Women's Volleyball what Alabama was to Men's basketball last year.
