Now going into fifth set.  Won the first two but NIU took the second two; blew a lead in the fourth.

Instant karma for the Huskies. They blow a 2-0 lead themselves. BG is your champion.

I know we had a pretty good season, but do you really think that there is a chance for an at large bid?  Has the MAC ever had two volleyball teams make it before?  Please excuse my ignorance since I am a casual volleyball observer.

I meant the season's not over in a literal sense; there's still another match on the schedule. If we win that, we'll be firmly on the bubble, I think. And the MAC had four bids just a couple years ago. It's a good conference!

even if there is no at large bid, the future is really bright.  this year's team was dominated by sophs and freshmen, including league player of year Lamberti.  Look how Serena improved from bit player a year ago to second team all league as a soph.  All of these girls can get better.  Plus, another excellent recruiting class.  No major injuries this year helped, but this team really progressed through the season.  They could be scarey good with a little work and a little luck next year...

To be honest, I don't know why I thought that the season was done with the conference tournament.  I forgot that the volleyball team always (well, for as long as I can remember) plays an out of conference game against a strong team as a warmup game before going to the NCAA's.

However, even if they win against Notre Dame, I think it is a long shot of making the tournament. Not necessarily because we had bad losses, but we didn't really beat anyone either.

Four new faces next year to fill in for our three losses. We'll be young but experienced next year as 4 freshman and 4 sophs were regulars on the court.

We lose Lexie (the Lexinator) at MB,  an important piece to our success for three years. Freshman Karin Bull was stepping up near the end of the season so that's a good sign. Plus Ali Lake is coming in. We'll need at least one of these ladies to work into the rotation with Serena.

Also lose Faith ( a leap of Faith) at OH but Coach Thies is loading up with Mallory Salis and Katie Horton, although Katie is apparently quite versatile and very athletic, so we'll have to see where she ends up playing.

Only other loss is  Leah (the Croatian sensation), our solid backup setter. Enter Brooke Coleman who hopefully can fill the bill.

But this year is not over and a win against the Irish Friday at the Convo might help get them an NCAA bid. That would be sweet because this team is capable of making some noise in the NCAA with a decent draw.
