Chance to see some big time volleyball this weekend at the Convo as OHIO plays two more top 20 teams:

Friday at 7p.m.  it's No. 10 Kentucky who beat UNC 3-0 and  Lipscomb 3-2, and lost to Long Beach 3-1

Saturday, OHIO will be favorites for the first time this year as they play W. Carolina at 3. (our victory over State Penn should be over by then)
W. Carolina lost to N. Kentucky 3-1; beat St Petes 3-0 and beat NC A&T 3-0

Sunday it's No. 17 Oregon at 11:00. They spent last weekend in Columbus beating Toledo 3-0, Houston 3-0 and OS Who 3-2

As with most issues, I guess it depends on your perspective.  Is your bucket half empty, or half full ???? 

Perhaps the nay-sayers could not find that much to complain about.  Or, perhaps many are waiting until this weekend to see what happens when we play teams that should be more like most of those we will face the rest of the season before taking their stand.

Alan, perhaps a better indicator of interest is game attendance. For the 3 home games they've played, the average attendance is nearly 2000, including a game played on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.

In those games, they played 2 top 20 teams and were competitive throughout. This will be an exciting season as the freshmen and transfer gain more experience and mesh with the more seasoned players.

They are 1-5, but all 5 losses were against top 20 teams. The schedule remains challenging as they have a 3 game series in North Carolina, plus a MAC conference that had a record 4 teams get invited to the NCAA tourney last year.

So will this be an off-year for OHIO? No way. OHIO will win 20+ matches this year. Book it!  Maybe 25 if things fall into place.

Well said 66.  There is a fine line between being competitive and taking on Goliath.

We didn't complain about how hard the schedule was when we were winning with it.

"When has Ohio EVER beaten 7 top 30 teams ... in one season ... in a stretch of a few weeks?  Get real.   The Cats stand 5-7 and have not lost ONE set in their wins ... with 4 set losses to Illinois, Dayton, Kentucky and Oregon ... and a 5 set loss at North Carolina.  NC State (just beat NC) is 10-1, etc.  This team will be strong in the MAC and should be ready come NCAA tournament time should they reach the tourney this year.  Roles are still in limbo (partly due to the incredibly tough schedule) and new players are meshing with the old guard.  The Cats beat NC 25-16 TWICE on NC's home court ... and should have closed in set 5, but did not.  Way too many errors to beat a very good NC State team on their home court ... yet each set was competitive to the end.  If this team finds an identity, they will be very hard to beat in the MAC.  Go Bobcats!"

Now, nearly 2 months later the Cats have finished 14-2 in the MAC and head into the MAC tourney with the no. 1 seed (and a target planted firmly on their backs).  They have defeated each team in the tourney except for Central Michigan (5 set road loss), so they should be the favorite.  Go Cats!

So many fans are negative (by nature) and expect the worst, but this team rose to the occasion time and time again ... and the brutally tough pre-conference schedule provided some benefit in the end.
