Ryan and his staff really picked up the recruiting 3 years ago when they brought in Kelly, Chelsea and Serena Warner. Hard to remember a more impactful trio, even if Serena has moved on. It was recruiting at its best: Bringing in someone who they thought could absolutely dominate in Kelly, who was the Gatorade Illinois POY. In the same class they took a flyer on Serena--remember she rarely played as a freshman, but was second team all MAC last year.
You will hit and miss on project players, but they certainly hit it big on Liis, who has really developed into a solid front line player and may get even better before she's through. Someone saw lots of potential there, just as I think they do in the young lady from Canada who'll arrive in a couple years.
I cannot imagine Ryan has much of a recruiting budget, so it is extremely impressive that we're recruiting nationally--internationally, actually. Icing on the cake is getting Alexis Pinson in her graduate year. We would not be 13-2 without her.
They now appear to be in the mold of bringing in at least one player a year who they think can challenge for POY honers in the MAC. Started with Kelly. Based on Ryan's comments when Katie Horton signed, I believe they feel the same about her. I'm guessing here, but they may very well expect big things from Jamie Kosiorek when she arrives...
It certainly sets up as a program that should continue to do well over the next several years...

That they did. I thought she'd never see the rotation.
