The 30th ranked Bobcats (22-4, 12-2) will end the regular season this weekend with home matches against Kent Thursday and Central Michigan Saturday. Both games are at 7, with Thursday’s match on Time Warner and ESPN 3. It will be the first regular season TV appearance ever for the ladies.

The Cats RPI has dropped to 35 with road wins last week. It had been hovering in low 40’s. They are 9-3 against the top 100 teams in the nation. There are 332 D1 teams. The RPI’s of the other top MAC schools:

  Ball 66
  BG 73
  NI 79
 Toledo 87

If OHIO can win out at home this weekend, they should make the NCAA tourney regardless of the MAC tourney outcome. And they’ll be assured a No.1 seed in the MAC tourney. According to a write up on the athletic page, if the Cats win the regular MAC season championship, they will host the tourney in 2014. If true, that’s a big change in the tourney structure as they’ve been playing on one neutral venue for a long time.

Kent (12-15, 6-8) Thursday- Payback time
One of our 2 MAC defeats came at Kent in 4 sets when their coach, Don Gromala, former assistant under Carlston at both OHIO and State was keying for us and had his players well prepared. The loss knocked us out of the top 25. It’s payback time!

Senior night Saturday against CMU (11-15, 5-9)

Come out and support OHIO’s finest.

I'm predicting a 3-0 SHELLACKING against Kent (payback's a bi$%h) and 3-1 win against the Chips where the game CMU wins is an unexplainable blowout. CMU always seems to pull one of those over on us.

Either way, Cats come out of the weekend with 2 wins and a trip to the NCAA's one big step closer.

Called it! Makes me scratch my head even more at what happened the first two times these teams played...

Friday night Toledo pulled off an unbelievable comeback to win their first ever MAC West title. Down 14-7 in the 5th set, they scored 9 straight points. That just doesn't happen.

They can tie OHIO for the overall championship if they win tonight and the Cats lose. But I don't think OHIO will let that happen.

Go OHIO

Congrats to the Rockets on the incredible comeback in the fifth set...

But dang, if you're Western, after that match you just need to go find a private place and throw up.  One point from the match with a seven point lead?
