Former Ohio assistant coach Don Gromalo now heads 8-5 Kent. Probably his signature win at Kent was knocking off the Bobcats last year. Our ladies remember.

Thursday at 7 in the Convo.

Cats win 3-1. Ladies come out smoking to dominate set 1 but the other 3 were challenging and too close for comfort. In set 4, they came back from a 9-3 deficit to close out the match. Big numbers for:

Gilleland-11 kills, 15 digs, 40 assists
Lamberti- 13 kills, 16 digs
Kosiorek- 13 kills
Ashy- 25 digs

Ohio, now 8-4 travel to Central Michigan for a Saturday eve match.

Would expect Kent to get better on the defensive side. One of our State Champ Muncie Central v ball players that did well on the Defensive side and playing Libero at Wisky is an assistant up there. SHe has a great demeanor, was a natural leader and teacher even back in HS. She was team captain at UW and comes from the Shondell legacy. Kimmy is going to be a great HC someday. Good for Kent to be getting competitive here in the East side of the MAC. No doubt in my mind she is shoring up their passing and defensive skills.

I enjoyed watching Kelly and Jaime serve, quite athletic, and I believe Aubree also had a nice run serving. Wow, with Chelsea back, the team could have four all Mac players on the court at once. Chelsea seemed to be a bit rusty at first, but looked great by the end of the game.

Central Michigan is a long bus ride away, and they are getting better. After losing there first five, they have since won their last six of seven. I believe they have a couple of freshman in the line up, which may account for their improvement as they gain experience. I hope we bring our A game.

"(Ohio) is a completely different opponent," Olson said. "It's going to be power volleyball Saturday night. They have a big block, a solid libero and two returning All-Americans. But we match up well with what they do. They have a lot of jump-top serves, so we're going to get more comfortable with that in Friday's practice."
