This weekend, two of the perennial Western powers invade the Convo. Ohio is on a 9 game roll, 15-4 overall and undefeated at 8-0 in the MAC. They are currently ranked 52nd and have been dropping the last few weeks despite the win streak. Beating low ranked teams hurts us in the ranking system. The other rating systems have us 39th (Kern) and 36th (Pablo) and IMO we are still better than that.

Friday at 7 Western Michigan Blackout game

WMU is 15-8 overall and 6-2 in the MAC, with an overall ranking of 152 , putting them in the middle of the pack as there are over 330 teams out there. Unusually, they played an OOC game just tonight (Wednesday), beating IPFW 3-1. Our ladies must take care of business Friday before the showcase match Saturday.

Saturday at 5 Northern Illinois Halloween Showdown

NIU is also 8-0 in the MAC so the match is for the MAC lead and potential top seeding in the tourney. NIU is underrated at 97 having gotten off to a poor start, but they are very good. Here’s how they fared against our mutual opponents:

Halloween scares away the locals (parking and general debauchery) and then students start pre-gaming by 4:00. Rough night to have a game, but I think it was smart to move it to 5:00 as opposed to 7:00.

Northern looked, IMO, overrated. Made pretty quick work of them.
