The first section of the student section (opposite of the band) is DEAD. you guys need to keep someone down there to keep them fired up. I know it's still non league games, but you all should be getting into form.

Tried it. We refer to that section as the "Greek Section" because it seems to always be full of frat and sorority members. Despite many, many, many attempts to get them "into the fold" as it were, nothing seems to stick. Personally, it infuriates me, but I'd rather get people involved who want to be involved.

Haha..Just make fun of them mercilessly until they get the hint and leave! Just kidding..I figured something had tried to be done, it's just frustrating to see people want to be in the Ozone, but not want to be energetic. They must not realize how much the team feeds off that.

We were always told we needed to get the Greek community more involved. We knew why that wasn't a great idea.

RP - is that fact or just an assumption. The reason I ask is that I sit right across the court from that section and I haven't notice very many if any students wearing their letters.

It's a fact. During the last two years when we tried our "section leader" program, I was one of five over there. That is the section where the frats/srats choose to sit. Granted, they don't wear their letters, but not a lot of people seem to anymore. They have kind of "claimed" that section and forced others to the middle. It sucks, but it was an inevitability.

You need to get those kids involved more. Those are just the type of kids you want in the student section. They will be obnoxious and will have no filter. yes frat guys can be douches.. but we need to harness that to make fun of the other team. The Ozone seems very cliquey and I think it ruins the atmosphere and makes people not want to join. People coming in don't know anyone and often sit with maybe one or two people they know. Which I think is the problem with that section. It's not because they're frat guys it's because they know nobody except a few kids. We need to do a better job of getting to know everyone and making friends in the Ozone. Make people feel welcome. Also why does nobody paint there face anymore?!

Not a lot of people may know where to get the paint (it's at the costume shop on court street. It's more stage makeup than paint). Also that stuff is a pain in the butt to take off (scrub until your skin comes off then continue scrubbing).

Eh, a loofah or an exfoliating scrub will get it off easy enough.

Loofah. Now there's a word you seldom see on a sports board.

What if the true Ozoners get to that section first and force the frat/srat people to sit higher up? I haven't been impressed so far with the Ozone..granted we are coming off a long break, but it seems unorganized..Gotta make sure to coordinate with the band also.. "Buckeye Reject" was good last night, but you gotta have more ammo than that for their best players...He shut the Ozone up with a dunk..Don't stop hammering those guys...

Fun fact: Finally, O Zone membership cards are required to sit in the bleachers before tipoff. After tipoff, people can move down. What you saw last night was that people who want to heckle and chant are closer to the floor than in games past.

You get it when you register for the Ozone. So once you register you get your shirt and the card for around 20$ (I think)

Because no one is buying a membership yet. It's basically the same as a strike. Who will last longer?

So you can't go in the bleachers without a membership? Even after the game starts? One of my favorite things about going to the games is watching the student section.. Sad that the administration is keeping them from truly reaching their potential..

There are about 10 guys that do a decent job down there. I think the number one guy last game was the older gentleman.. I could hear him across the convo and I was in the upper section. Keep him.

Policing the entrance to the section like you're doing now is the right way to go. Just make sure it's obvious that you're having fun and engaged with the game and the rest will fall into place.

Yup. Honestly, since that policy started, the people that want to cheer all game get down there. We have a ton more fun, and are able to get more people involved in new chants.

Wait.. Who is policing the entrance? Who is charging for membership? There are power in numbers I think. I'd want as many people down there as possible.. The few that aren't cheering will either feel dumb and start getting loud or they'll leave..
