The reason is the band has always been there standing and making noise. The O Zone has gone through it's ebbs and flows the last decade. Not surprising that bandmembers feel empowered to lead.
In the past, the cheer was always done by the same front and center person for an entire season, usually by a senior. Then passed down to a rising senior.
Yeah, I'm not totally surprised either and I'm fortunate that they can come up with things to chant that I never thought of. It was fun though when we and the 110 were chanting "Tik Tok, Tik Tok!" at Farrikhan during the EMU game (He's a big Tik Tok user / influencer). He was 2-10 from the field and 1-4 from three that night plus we gave him a nice "hey hey hey, goodbye!" after he fouled out.
