In what was likely the final meet of her cross-country career, redshirt senior Annie Beecham made sure to leave no regrets on the NCAA Regional course in Oakland, Mich.

Beecham ran the 5,000-meter course in 21 minutes, 0.17 seconds, a time that put her in 13th place.

"I raced as hard as I could," Beecham said. "I felt like I was about to pass out when I crossed the finish line.

"It is just kind of disheartening when you know that it's only a matter of seconds that separate you from qualifying for the national meet."

Although Annie Beecham did not earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, she still could receive an at-large selection.

Beecham's finish led the Bobcat women, who has a team took 12th place out of 33 teams. Ridge Robinson was the first Bobcat male to finish the 10,000-meter race. He took 42nd with in a time of 31:23.18.

Robinson came into the race with hopes of being a top-four finisher and an automatic qualifier for the national meet.

Beecham said the course was different than the athletes expected, which might have affected the runners.

"The course was actually really hilly, and everyone thought it was supposed to be a really flat course," Beecham said. "We got there and saw that there were a lot of rolling hills, so that was kind of a shock."

The fact that the men had to race a 10k might also have contributed to Robinson's slower time. All season long, the Ohio men have competed in 8k races.

After Robinson, the next Bobcat to cross the line was Scott Meyers. He came in 85th place with a time of 32:18.42. As a team, the Ohio men came in 17th place out of 31 squads.
