The motion of pitching is more natural than baseball so less wear and tear.  It is not uncommon to ride your pitcher through a tournament like we did.  I only had 3 pitchers at most on a summer team, a dominate pitcher with a reliable back up and either an up and coming pitcher or one who threw junk and played in the field well.

There's really no injury concern for softball pitching. Maybe just a slight concern for fatigue but these pitchers are used to making these motions over and over. It makes softball much different than baseball because the vast majority of teams are going to just use one pitcher. If you have one really good pitcher, you can beat anybody and go on a run like the Bobcats did.

The regional, which is the initial round for the Bobcats in Lexington, is a double elimination pod between 4 teams. The winner of the Regional (1 team) goes on to the super regional to play a best of 3 series against 1 team. The eight winners of the super regional go on to play in the Women's College Softball World Series in Oklahoma City. The World Series is also a double elimination format.
