ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio University Athletics announced today that Derick Roe will serve as the interim swimming and diving head coach for the remainder of the year.

Roe replaces former Greg Werner, who will no longer serve as the swimming and diving head coach at Ohio.

"We feel that we need to move the program in a different direction," said Ohio University Athletics Director Jim Schaus. "We thank Greg for all of his commitment to the program and we wish him the very best in the future.

How is it possible that neither The Post nor The Messenger has a peep on this?  I know the firing was announced late afternoon…but "in my day" The Post would have been all over the story.

I have that dread feeling we'll be reading why on Deadspin. Really hope I'm wrong.

There was a very interesting post on her yesterday that gave an apparent "insider's" view.  Unfortunately, the moderator pulled it down without explanation.  Perhaps pressure from AD?  If so, wholly inappropriate.

Did anything official ever come out about this? It seems like the story was just swept under the rug.

The only explanation you'll get:

http://thepost.ohiou.edu/content/former-ohio-swimming-and...

Haven't heard from a single person in the OU Community that thinks this was a good decision.
