The Ohio softball team is 12-2. Lost the second game of the year 10-0 in 5 innings to South Carolina and then lost this weekend to #15 Tennessee 2-1. Dorsey gave up 2 runs in the 1st inning and then settled in. Ohio had chances to score runs and pull the upset. Dorsey didn't pitch in the other loss. It seems safe to say Ohio has a shot to beat pretty much anyone when she pitches. She has a 0.99 ERA and 71 strikeouts in less than 50 innings.

Savannah Jo Dorsey is 11-3 with an 0.85 ERA and 131 strikeouts in 90 2/3 innings. Danielle Steine has been a very good No. 2 pitcher: 6-2 with a 2.94 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 52 1/3 innings.

The Bobcats are a hitting .298 as a team. Alexa Day is at .400 with four doubles and a home run. Morgan Geno has four home runs and a .290 average.

Regular season complete for the Bobcats, and they are the No. 2 seed in the MAC Tournament behind Central Michigan. Ohio has won nine in a row and is 36-14 overall and finished 17-7 in the MAC. Prior to the winning streak, Ohio had a rough stretch of games, going 3-7, scoring more than 3 runs just once in that span. They've pounded the ball the last few series.

The Bobcats play No. 7 Akron at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Firestone Stadium. The Akron series during the regular season was at the end of Ohio's struggles. The Zips won 2 of 3 (1-0 and 2-1 with a 7-1 Ohio win in between).

Had some time off Wednesday afternoon, so I went down and caught the Ohio Akron game. Ohio went triple, home run in the bottom of the 7th to notch the 2-0 walk off win. Dorsey struck out 7 and did not walk a batter. They play again today at 3:30 (weather permitting) against #3 NIU.

Dorsey throws a one-hitter (bloop single to center) and the Bobcats beat NIU 1-0.

Bobcats are into the championship and will have to be defeated twice after Dorsey threw her third straight shutout of the tournament, 2-0, over Kent State. Ohio will get it appears either No. 3 NIU or No. 4 Kent State in the final. NIU has a 15-8 lead in the 7th of elimination game against No. 8 WMU. The first game Saturday is at 10:30, and the first (and hopefully only) championship game is at 1. If needed, the second game will follow 30 minutes after the first.

Ohio got shut out in two games, and Kent State is the champ. The Golden Flashes finally got to Dorsey, who had thrown 28 scoreless innings in the tournament, in the eighth inning for one run and a 1-0 win. Then they scored three on her in the first inning of the second game and on a pair of home runs and won 3-0. The Bobcats scored only five runs in five games in the tournament (and gave up just the four today).

Season is not over for the Bobcats. They are in the first NISC tournament and are the top seed in their region (though they are not hosting but playing at Liberty).
