Bobcat hockey coach Sean Hogan is stepping down. It's a shame. He has done a great job and is a terrific guy. He's been very good at reaching out to hockey alumni to tap into tradition. Any new guy will have big skates to fill.

Any insight on why he is leaving "for personal reasons"?

Moving back to Michigan to "pursue other activities". He's finished up his Grad degree and I expect he's looking for a better paying gig. He's got a wife and a new baby to provide for now.

I'm curious, since this is a club sports, how is his salary paid? Is it just paid by gate receipts and money donated to the hockey club? Any idea what it is?

He's paid by being the manager of Bird Arena. He may get some supplemental pay from the hockey club. Expenses come from the club. The Blueline Boosters and alumni are pretty generous with donations.

Thanks. I kind of thought it was something like that. I knew one real strong hockey supporter, Jim Crouse, who passed away just recently. His support was, I think, less monetary than as a volunteer for crucial game-day assignments and other work.
