Bobcats start their season 4-1 in South Carolina. 2 blowout wins each over Towson & St Francis, and an extra innings loss to USC Upstate (the host).

Belle Hummel, a light hitting outfielder in her 4th season with the Bobcats, exploded going 13 for 17 with 2 doubles, 2 homers, 3 steals, 4 walks and 0 strikeouts. I mean my God. Last year she started every game and only had 6 extra base hits all season and 0 homers.

Next weekend is in Chattanooga.

A 3-1 weekend, splitting with Chattanooga and beating Canisius and MTSU.

Belle Hummel went 5 for 7 on Friday continuing the blistering start. She finally proved human Saturday, going 1 for 7.

Things get much tougher next weekend in Orlando.

Mixed results in the 3rd weekend. An extra inning win over Notre Dame, exciting marquee name though I do not think they have a great Softball program. A win over Charleston Southern and lost 2 to the host UCF, one by run rule. Then unfortunately we capped it off by getting torn to shreds by Penn State, 16-1. If it makes you feel better, it was only 7-1 after 5 before PSU unloaded in the 6th. Had they been the home team it would have stopped at 11-1.

They sure are playing a lot of cupcake games this spring. Maybe it is to develop the confidence of a second pitcher on the staff. As a fan it's pretty boring. Not sure it is the best way for the the team to get better. We shall see, meanwhile Miami has beat Minnesota and Iowa and lost to Kentucky 6 to 7.

Ladies drop 2 of 3 in opening series at Toledo, disappointing start after a 16-8 OOC record.

Top 4 hitters are ripping the ball. Skipp Miller is still the ace though she has taken a little step back from the previous 2 years results.

Wow what a game yesterday. Down 2-0 with 1 outs in the 7th inning at Miami and only 2 hits to that point...Bobcats go double, K, single, double, double, double, single, groundout. Win 5-3. Huge doubleheader today. Ohio & Miami are tied for 2nd in the MAC at 8-5.
