Bobcats scored twice in the second half to beat Kent State 2-1 and win the program's first ever MAC championship.

Ohio was a long shot to make the tournament with two games to go. The Bobcats won their final two regular season matches to finish 4-4-1, got some other games to go their way and got the last spot. As the #6 seed, Ohio then beat #3 Ball State 2-0 and #2 Bowling Green 2-1 before topping the #4 Golden Flashes.

A look at the 2022 bracket shows that it is very much regional and the game at campus sites, no pods. The most travel teams were lower team in conferences lower than the MAC and west cost teams who basicly went from Oregan and Washington to play first round games in Arizonia or Texas.

The past two champs opening round.
2022 - Buffalowent to Pitt
2021 - BGSU went to Michigan

Based on some early projections based on ranked teams could be at Pitt, OSU or WVU, to stay regional.

Just hope we don't go up against Akron or Marshall -- both soccer powerhouses.

ah . . . forget it. I'm talking about men's soccer, and this is women's soccer.

Wow what a run! Given their mediocre regular season, I am sure they will face a very very tough opponent in round 1. But soccer is a game that definitely allows for upsets.

Michigan State is the NCAA opponent. All in all, not the worst matchup. The Spartans are #20 in the last coaches poll and a #5 seed. Regionally, Penn State and Notre Dame probably would have been tougher matchups, though this is a tough one. First-round games are Nov. 10-12. Not sure if a specific date for Ohio's game has been set.

48 degrees on Friday.

The Bobcats will head to East Lansing, Mich. to take on the 5th-seeded Michigan State (12-4-3) on Friday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. at DeMartin Stadium.

Ohio is riding a five-game winning streak going into the NCAA Tournament, which has imbued the team with momentum at the most critical point of the season.

Michigan State finished the season with 12 victories and earned the number one seed in the Big Ten Women’s Soccer Tournament. However, the Spartans fell to Iowa in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament by a score of 1-2.

FYI they lost 3-0 to Michigan St. MSU dominated the game from start to finish, shots were 26-4. I gather the gap between the power teams and mid-majors is especially wide in women's soccer. Regardless, an exciting run to the MAC title for the ladies.
