At the risk of saying "I told you so," I'd say that the Paw is officially back.

It's a neat space, I watched them create the park and seen an overhead shot a while back.

Such generic high school stuff. I'm glad it floats your boat. It's still not going to replace the AttackCat logo as the official logo of OHIO athletics. That would be a real step backwards. But, if these paw bricks or whatever you want to call them make you feel good and superior in your prognostication ability, go for it.

Paw was the official logo for 18 years but the attack cat has been around for 27 at this point. Time to consider something new?

My freshman year 1977-78 we played a tournament at Clemson, who had/has a paw logo. The very next year, we had new uniforms with the paw logo. Coincidence?

It’s a park for Heaven’s sake, relax!

I don’t understand the animus towards the Paw. Love the Paw! I actually do like the Attack Cat better as It
more distinctive.

As an ‘85 grad, I cut my Bobcat teeth on the Paw. Plus, the Paw makes for some great retro clothing.

No animus here hence my original post. When Thomas Both tried to force OHIO and the attack cat down folks throats, I said then that OU and the paw would be back. They clearly are as evidenced by the sweatshirt that Tim wears during games.

The Paw is such a weak, rip-off of half the high schools in the nation that it is not distinctly OHIO, and therefore is, and will always, be in a secondary position to the AttackCat. Interestingly, when I was in school back in the 1960s, I had a decal on my VW bug that looked very much like the AttackCat developed in the Boeh Era. I suspect that the designer of the AttackCat saw that decal and modeled his or her work on that earlier design. Someone on BA several years ago asked me if I had a copy of that old decal. I've looked and can't find one, but something may eventually turn up. I can tell you that it had the arched OHIO and a slightly more realistic bobcat with a visible red tongue and, I think, bared teeth. The AttackCat is almost a cartoon version of this old decal.

As much as many (most) of us disliked Thomas Boeh, the "call us Ohio" thing worked and we're better off for it.

Back in the late 1960s I had a Schwinn 3-speed bike with a decal on the back fender that I'm pretty sure was the basis for the Pringles logo.

You'll have to explain that one to me. The gap between MAC schools and the big boys has never been greater and as we're seeing, the portal and NIL is just exacerbating that.

With all due respect Alan, I think your post really isn't responsive to what SBH said. And, for the record, the "call us Ohio" thing, in modern times, started with Vern "The Fern" Alden, not Tom Boeh.

That park BTW is pretty well done and maybe the coolest green space outside of the Campus Green.

Well, for one, Boeh actually had the logo trademarked with official marketing standards, which has allowed for revenue and contol over the logo.

The AttackCat reminds me of Tom Boeh with cat whiskers. I have to believe he was the inspiration to create the design in his image.
