[Others may peek]

I know you've been waiting for this, and can't wait to find out about a new relative that I've discovered.  You might want to sit down, if you are not already, before you continue reading . . .

I just used a program run by FamilySearch.com in which you put in your family tree back just a few generations, and it searches and finds your famous relatives.

My closest famous relative . . . drum roll please . . . Louisa May Alcott, who is my third cousin, three times removed!

Not surprised. She was an early transcendentalist, a philosophy based on the imagined rather than the empirical. This captures the very essence of your contributions to BA.

Yet, she was a nurse during the Civil War. I'd say that required a lot practical knowledge and skills as well as an empirical mindset. I refer you to her book, "Hospital Sketches." Like most people, she is not easily placed in one box that explains all aspects of her life and personality. And, if you study her life you'll discover that her father more closely resembled the stereotypical image you have of transcendentalists than did she. And, I relate to her on her mother's side. But, nice try!
