Despite some of the doom and gloom stories, this article says numbers are up in Western PA.

Without the numbers right in front of me I know that OU's yield percentage of those admitted which are attending is close to half of what it was 10 years ago. A university needs all that many more admits and applicants to fill out the same freshman class. It does also make the application process more of a cost shoot out especially for half the HS students that couldn't care less about what college they get into and the decision might be made by their parents pocketbook.
UC I bet is helped a lot by the common app because more in-state kids I can see giving them a shot though they aren't familiar with Cincinnati or understand their brand. Then they see the price tag compared with Miami and decide to save some money.
