I saw something about it recently but can't remember what the event is all about. Anybody?

Don't know what it's like now but back in the '60s it was a popular annual event. Dorms and Greek chapters constructed impressive sets and performed creative skits. My then girlfriend Lynne - later to become my wife - immersed herself in her sorority's skit.

In many public high schools, it was the prom put on by the juniors for the senior class.

I remember it like that too, Mike. Lots of people from the town and surrounding areas would come to campus just to see the skits and view the house decorations. The skits and their backdrops were portable and would be moved from one location to anothet as they were performed in front of about every Greek house, or so it seemed. It was quite a production, and was something that tended to be enjoyed by both town and gown, and was a unifying event. We don’t have many of those anymore. [Later, before the whole thing imploded, I think about the time of the Vietnam War protests, they had streamlined it and the skits were only performed at a few designated locations, not in front of every Greek house.

When I was at O.U. they did the skits at one location on each Green.

I lived in the East Green.
They put on the skits on the field behind Mc Cracken Hall.

The skits were put on over 2 nights.

If it rained, they did them in the Convo.

J-Prom had a lot of rules.
1 was that except for a couple of people, everyone in the crew, moving and assembling the props couldn't talk.

Most had tape across their mouth.

I don't remember who judged the skits or what the prize was.

A lot of very creative musical skits.
