Many posters here are alumnus of the Scripps J school at Ohio, as was Chris Hondros who died in Libya on Wednesday. Perhaps there are personal connections, too.
Like most of us I take for granted that the evening news, the weekly mag or the online feed will have stories, video and pictures from every trouble spot in the world. Usually I give no thought as to how those items were obtained. I certainly don't normally think of journalism as a dangerous profession.
Today I think we should all reflect on the risk and sacrifices that accompany those pictures and stories. Whatever the motivation behind them, the journalists who dare to venture into places like Misrata are serving all of us.
Sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of both men lost on Wednesday.
