Any rumblings on status of things?

https://www.athensmessenger.com/sports/ohiouniversity/boa...

Per link, he signed a 5 year deal that started on March 18, 2019 and runs through April 1, 2024.

Would assume an extension of some sorts is a forgone conclusion, but haven't officially seen anything.

I thought I remembered hearing that but can't find any details/length etc. You have a link?

Spent some time scouring through the annals and couldn't find any details.

Feels like there would be some more scuttlebutt if his contract were to indeed end on April 1, 2024... but I can't find a single thing that has any detail around an extension. Just the details of his current contract. Which ends on April 1, 2024. And some of these are comically low. $5K if he wins Coach the Year? I make a bigger yearly increase just for not being fired. $10K per NCAA win? $30K if he makes the Sweet 16? $100K for the national championship? LOL Cmon.

Boals’ assistant coach salary pool is $341,000 for three assistant coaches.

Boals can earn additional compensation from performance-based incentives:

If Ohio has a winning conference record: $5,000
If Boals wins MAC Coach of the Year: $5,000
If Ohio reaches an agreed-upon APR score: $5,000
If Ohio wins the MAC regular season championship: $10,000
If Ohio wins the MAC Tournament: $10,000
If Ohio makes an NIT appearance: $5,000
If Ohio plays in the NIT championship: $10,000
If Ohio receives an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament: $10,000
If Ohio wins one or more game(s) in the NCAA Tournament: $10,000 per win
If Ohio reaches the Sweet 16: $30,000
If Ohio reaches the Final Four: $75,000
If Ohio wins the national championship: $100,000

Boals will also receive a courtesy car from the university or a comparable monthly stipend of $750.

Ohio provided reimbursement of Boals’ relocation expenses and the university will maintain a club membership for Boals.

If Ohio terminates Boals’ contract without cause, the university will owe him the following:

Between March 18, 2019 and April 1, 2020: $950,000
Between April 2, 2020 and April 1, 2021: $850,000
Between April 2, 2021 and April 1, 2022: $750,000
Between April 2, 2022 and April 1, 2023: $650,000
Between April 2, 2023 and April 1, 2024: The percentage of Boals’ $581,000 annual base salary that is equal to the number of days remaining in the agreement divided by 365

Am I the only one wondering if he's going to get another extension since April 2024 is right around the corner?

Relatively certain as SBH said, they tacked another couple years on after 2021...I believe it expires in 2026. But I concur with MDST, I can not find a single article about an extension anywhere which seems odd.

Did someone ring FearLeon?

Ha.

So nobody can find a single article on a Boals contract extension?

SHOCKER.

What did we expect? No media. No one cares. No one pushes. When I push back here and even try to have some fun with it on a certain Bahamas thread, people still don’t get it. Our fan base is just content to not care at all…except for a small base.

Where is the Boals contract extension article?

A nation waits.

The thing about the extension is even in all the threads and articles complaining about how much he makes... not one suggests a new salary has ever been negotiated... now either Boals is horrible at negotiating and just accepted his current flat rate for an unnamed amount of years, also odd... or there was no extension.

In addition, why would we want the rest of the college basketball world to assume he was going to be free? Head coach salaries are as much of a d*ck measuring contest as anything these days.

But really... our head basketball coaches contract ends (by all published accounts) in 8 business days and everyone seems shockingly cavalier. Which is not how I would describe most peoples attitude here.

Bump?

T-minus 5 days (assuming lack of any actual official posting or announcement means anything).

That darn Julie Cromer is so busy going to industry events that she totally forgot about the university's highest paid employee's contract.

Obviously tongue in cheek hah. Surely he got an extension. Surely it's a done deal. Surely it happened long ago, right?

Just find it odd that there's no record or announcement literally anywhere.

I’d love to know what the criteria were that got her all those awards. How’s the department doing overall and by individual sports?

I looked up the criteria. Seems like they very heavily weigh a recipients ability to leave a bunch of dudes butthurt on the internet for no reason whatsoever.

Yep. At some point, one just has to accept that there's no media coverage of OU sports and there are things we're gonna be in the dark about as a result.

My guess is that the original reporting of his contract missed some details, and that there was an auto-extension clause triggered by something. Pretty sure he auto-renewed for 2 extra years if he successfully went an entire season without answering questions about a scholarship player who wasn't on the bench.

Follow the link on the general thread and you'll see it. I'd put this at the top of the list of significant accomplishments.

Ohio's NCAA Graduation Rates have reached record numbers with a 94% Graduation Success Rate in both 2022 and 2023. The 2015-16 cohort marked the third-straight year Ohio led the MAC and set a GSR record. Ohio achieved its highest-ever GPA at 3.32 in the spring of 2021, while the cumulative student-athlete GPA was 3.23.

Jason Arkley asked on here what it was worth and asked for donations, we saw how well that worked out! The latest online radical news stopped by last fall to ask what it was worth, well evidently not enough opened their check books. As someone suggested a simple solution, you can file an FOI and get all the answers.

Sadly, not the facts or figures we're looking for.

Maybe they don't exist. Boals is on double secret probation.

And I just wondering how she was responsible for that. How did the teams do on the field?. Good to know we have a group of good students. Is it possible to have good student/athletes.
